I've always liked this film and thought it a great pity there had been no Region 2 release on DVD. This cracking tale of dastardly deeds and deceit is a marvellous race to reach the next gag. And there is never long to wait!! Through a plethora of cultures and engaging social backgrounds, the tale never seems to peak, until the fantastic pie fight. A well re-mastered film, although the soundtrack did seem to fade in places. However, top marks.

This movie is an absolute must-see for anyone. It combines everything a classic should have - great actors (Audrey is tops and Peppard was never better), a great screenplay, a perfect score and New York (as usual) doing its best. The screenplay departs from the Capote's original but it does so in a way which makes the story work and which could be presented on the screen in 1961 - actually, the story is quite daring for the early 60s but you have to read between the lines every now and then to get it. Anyway, why shouldn't you reach for the original book once you are done watching? In short - How does it look? I must say I'm amazed. I was given this last Christmas and enjoyed it immensely - not only was it great over the dragging holiday period where the dang shops are shut and there is nothing of any worth on TV - but during the year I came back to this collection of some of Audrey Hepburn's best films (maybe excluding Paris When It Sizzles) and found that there is a film in this box for every mood. Roman Holiday for when you are feeling in love (but alone), Breakfast At Tiffany's for when you have a sinfully big box of chocolates you just must get through, Funny Face for when you want a smile to extend from cheek to cheek, Sabrina Fair for one of those happily retrospective nostalgia days, and Paris When it Sizzles for when it's raining and dull outside and you need a little reminder ... Sellers was a true comic genius, especially when compared with others who have attracted similar praise more recently. This film is a fine display of his talents.

This is without doubt one of the funniest movies I have seen. It is the story of a chauvenistic man who awakes one morning to his worst nightmare........the fact that he has become a woman (Ellen Barkin) overnight. The ensuing saga is one of non stop hilarity with Jimmy Smit as his/her best friend. It is the tale of one man's quest to reconcile himself to his new identify and the trials and tribulations of female grooming, lustful men and even lesbian encounters. Ellen Barkin plays a comical role supported by great dialogue and a wonderful physical presence in her role as "man turned woman". To add to it all, it has an excellent story line with an unexpected twist at the end of the movie and it would spoil the whole thing if I divulged the ending!!! Read More:

Director Blake Edwards is a master at this sort of movie. You have seen the basic story many times, however never as funny as this version. The action takes place during WWII in the south Pacific. Cary Grant is Commander Matt Sherman of the Sea Tiger, a not all too gather well submarine in need of repairs and lead paint. Tony Curtis is Lieutenant Nicholas Holden, an executive officer that is not too ept at sea duty but makes a procurement officer with unique abilities and methods of obtaining needed parts. Toss in a few nurses, some goats and you have the makings of an interesting situation. I was interested in finding out who plays Seaman Hornsby? He was a real pig.
