Rick Moranis plays a scientist who is determined to invent a working shrink ray but with no luck until one day and accident occurs and a baseball becomes a part of the shrink machine which finally gets it working.
Looking for the baseball the scientists kids and the kids from next door venture into the attic where the shrink ray is stored and worked on. When the kids are in the attic the shrink ray fires and shrinks the kids so that's when the adventure begins.

VHS : Rocketeer [1991]
There is much to like in this film but it does drag when Cliff (the hero) and his love interest Jenny are put together. The special effects are very well done and when the story does get going it is a lot of fun. I was particularly pleased with the homage to Rondo 'The Creeper' Hatton (Tiny Ron as Lothar) and Timothy Dalton's Errol Flynnesque villain. Alan Arkin puts in good support and it is a shame that the film did not do enough business to warrant a sequel. Still, with Hollywood running out of ideas the serials may make a comeback.

VHS : The Pagemaster
Probably the most under-rated family movie of all time. If you want a fantasy film to watch...get this!!!

It does everything a Disney movie (Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Jungle Book, Fantasia) does and much, much more. Macaulay Culkin does his best performance!! Everything about this movie is perfect...the songs touch your heart...the story is enchanting...the acting is superb...the dialog makes you believe...the animation is better that anything Disney made at the time (and Disney is the standard)...and the atmosphere is indescribable! Also listen out for the voices of Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Stewart and Leonard Nimoy (yes, this is not Star Trek)!!!

Now when will it come out in the UK????

Another fantastic performance from Robin Williams, and the rest of the cast make excellent appearances too. The plot is strong, the effects are marvellous still, and the directing still leaves you feeling quite emotional at the end. There are some fantastic moments that are clever and indeed well done, but its the strong plot for me that makes the movie. A true classic film for the family!

VHS : Hidalgo [2004]
The only reason I found out about Hidalgo was because my family rented it from a small corner shop quite a while ago. It was supposed to be just be a popcorn flick that would entertain us one dull Friday evening in winter. So my expectations were not high, so I was totally amazed by this film. Viggo Mortensen (Lord of the Rings) and Omar Sheriff (Lawrence of Arabia) gave tremendous performances and really carried the film well. The action scenes were fun, exciting and graphic enough to keep us teenagers entertained. The storyline was simple yet clever at the same time, and the film was basically fantastic.

More than just a good popcorn flick, an excellent film that managed to become hugely successful without the help of all the marketing etc. that Hollywood feels is necessary for every ... Read More:
