VHS : Doctor Who - Shada [1979]
For a generation of people, Tom Baker is the only 'real' Doctor Who. The box set, Shada, is a chance to see sections of a Doctor Who series that was sadly never finished due to industrial action at the BBC. Consequently this video contains unaired footage. The missing pieces are replaced by Tom Baker narration explaining the ongoing plotline. Unfortunately, this does little more than whet the appetite...the series would clearly have been brilliant.

Any Doctor Who fan who spent their childhood, like me, peeping from behind a cushion at Daleks and Cybermen would love this.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy fans should also note that the box contains the Douglas Adams original Shada script, a poignant inclusion since his death.

1: Tom Baker is excellent as the deranged Xoanon

2: Louise makes a brilliant entrance as Leela

3: The horda are cute.

4: The tesh are gits, but likeable ones, with their arm flapping!

5: Tom is great as ever as the Doc too.

6: The tribe have more developed characters than usual.

7: Great comic moments, especially how Leela runs into the TARDIS despite the Doc not really wanting to take her.

8: We for once get a sizeable chunk of story to see whats happened after the enemy has been thwarted, which is a nice change.

9: the staue looks impressive.

10: Good actual 25 min eps for a change!

Need I go on?

VHS : Doctor Who - Timelash [1985]
This is probably the most harmless and innoffensive of all Sixth Doctor stories. Sure it is pure pantomime with the boo-hiss villain Borad tying Peri to railway tracks (or similar!) and a campy performance by sub-villain Paul Darrow, but the whole thing is made much more entertaining than your usual christmas panto by Colin Baker who looks like a blonde parody of Tom Baker and acts like Basil Fawlty, berating and belittling the enthusiastic and ernest Herbert at every opportunity. Herbert is an endearing English twit who turns out to be H.G Wells in a fun twist. All in all, colorful, cheesy pantomime, but harmless and highly enjoyable. It only seems to offend those who insist that Dr.Who must be a dark, serious, gritty, realistic space drama at all times. ... Read More:

VHS : Survivors 5 - Law And Order / The Future Hour [1975]
From the first episodes, which dealt with simple survival, the series has moved to an examination of the group as it aims to achieve something more akin to civilisation. But, as the characters keep finding out, the old rules don't always apply, or cannot always be implemented, under the new conditions. In the first episode, "Law and Order", the people struggle to achieve cohesion as a community. Morale is low, they irritate each other, so Abby suggests a party to celebrate May Day. A lighthearted remark that this was a pagan rite, involving the spilling of blood, proves dramatically prophetic, with murder in their midst and a sacrificial victim. The group must then decide between humane principles and self-protection - a difficult choice, between compassion ... Read More:

VHS : Survivors 2 - Gone Away / Corn Dolly [1975]
Part of a long running old television series (created by Terry Nation), which deals with people trying to cope after a virus has wiped out 95% of the worlds population.

There are two episodes on this tape, Gone Away and Corn Dolly.

The both concentrate on life in a world with only a handful of people alive, death everywhere, no electricity, tap water or in fact any of the normal day to day luxuries that we take for granted.

You wont find any dazzling special effects, or in fact any high-budget effects, but what is present, is a good plot, and that 70's Tv feeling.

Despite not having seen the first 2 episodes, and also the age of the show, I enjoyed watching it, and look forward to seeing what happens in future episodes.

VHS : Doctor Who - The Five Doctors [1983]
This episode is one of those rare occasions where the then current doctor meets his previous selves. This time its Peter Davison(the 5th doctor)meeting with his other selves.Sadly William Hartnell (the 1st doctor)had passed away by the time this was made,so another actor takes his place. He is no Hartnell, but is adequate .Patrick Troughton(the 2nd doctor)and Jon pertwee reprise their roles with aplomb. The Brigadier puts in an appearance and is his usual self.Unfortunately Tom Baker-the 4th,and best doctor-is only in it for 2 minutes, and doesnt get to meet any of his alter egos.He would have made this episode even better. There is very little plot here, but there are some great scenes involving the daleks, the cybermen, the master and of course, the 5 doctors.

Bob Holmes always was a great Doctor Who writer, in my opinion still better than Russel T Davies, and he always had memorable characters in every single one of his scripts.

Well, who would have thought that a story about tax could be so flaming cool! But as i said, you can be assured that with Rob Holmes, you will always get a brilliant story with funny dialogue but also some great horror touches. And isnt Henry Woolf flipping brilliant as the Collector? One of the best villians ever on Doctor Who! And Louise Jameson is as strong as ever, and has a lot to do for once! A flaming cool Doctor Who story!!!!
