VHS : Taste The Blood Of Dracula [1970]
The 5th installment of Hammers Dracula films is excellent in my opinion. There was a review in a newsapaper stating that this was a recovery from the last film (risen from the grave). I think people said that because there was no one else besides Lee of any real substance. Ralph Bates fills that role excellently not as an adversary but as a catalyst in reviving Dracula with the help of Roy Kinnear and Peter Sallis as well as other dodgy blokes. The ending is a bit of a letdown as it isn't completly clear how Lee dies(which is why I can only give a 4)
The plot 3 dodgy repressed victorian dignitaries visit various brothels and like to think themselves adventurers in the darker part of human nature. On one of their quests they meet Ralph ... Read More:

VHS : Hammer House Of Horror - Vol. 2 [1980]
This is a nostalgia trip for me as I saw them when they were first shown on tv in 1980.
This video contains one of my 2 favourite episodes.
WITCHING TIME. Jon Finch plays a music writer. He's composing at his isolated farmhouse when a witch from the 17th century appears(brilliantly played by Patricia "Rocky Horror" Quinn. The scene where Finch shows her how to turn on a light switch for the first time is great.Quinn has some nude scenes in this. Sounds corny but it's high quality and very effective.
MARK OF SATAN . Peter Mcenery is very effective as a young man who thinks he's been infected by an evil virus. He becomes paranoid and see's the number 9 in almost everything.Genuinely disturbing. Also great performance by Georgina Hale.

VHS : Minder-Gunfight at Ok [1979]
The very first episode of Minder, made in 1979, became the start of a very popular and very enjoyable television programme. The very first episode sets up the entire series with Arthurs eye for quick and easy money supplying most of the comedy in this episode. Dennis Waterman shows his status with a powerful preformance as Terry. From this one episode it is easy to see why the programme lasted so long.

VHS : Doomwatch [1972]
Firstly, I have to say, that Doomwatch is an amazingly good film, and I have been a big fan since I first saw it, many years ago.

Unfortunately, Prism Leisure have not done a good job at putting this title on DVD. Although the picture quality is reasonably good, parts of the sound track are seriously damaged throughout the film. These faults are present in the form of a click, immediately followed by a drastic drop in volume. The sound then fades back in, until the fault happens again. This caused me not to be able to hear key parts of dialogue, and I am amazed that Prism Leisure have let this through their quality control.

Another less important point, is that they have presented the film in 4:3 (full frame), instead of it's ... Read More:

VHS : The Stone Tape [1972]
Simply put this film is worth a lot although I would not spend to much money finding out what its like try for example to loan it from a friend or perhaps rent it from Amazon. The story and direction are for the most decent however some scenes and the way in witch they are executed would leave a lot of people baffled and if like me you watched in wonder as most people shouted even when it was supposed to be a tender moment. One other thing I noticed was the name of the Electronics Company RYAN, and every now and then the main character would make a reference to him in an Irish accent very funny. Must be what BA does when they talk about Ryanair! Thanks for reading and enjoy the Stone SHOUTING tape. not bad perhaps a remake would not be a bad Idea but keep it simple and ... Read More:

VHS : Countess Dracula [1970] [1971]
Loosely based on the real-life Countess Elizabeth Bathory, who believed that bathing in the blood of virgins would keep her young and beautiful, this is a well-made Hammer offering, starring Ingrid Pitt as the wicked lady herself. She manages to play both bad-tempered old battleaxe, stamping around her castle in black mourning, to voluptuous, predatory siren with great ease. It can also be seen as a sort of fairy-tale allegory, with the Countess getting more evil, depraved and ugly everytime she commits another murder. Sandor Eles is the poor chap who is completely taken in by her, and Nigel Green is the old family friend who has the unenviable task of trying to persuade her that it's perhaps better, when all's said and done, to grow old gracefully. For all its bath-tubs of ... Read More:
