VHS : The Equalizer [1987]
This is a brilliant series and the DVD release has long been overdue. The good news is that Universal Studio's have announced that the DVD release of season 1 will occur in Feb 2008. As a guess it will probably be made available through Amazon initially in R1 NTSC then with other regions and PAL later.

VHS : Babylon 5 - Vol. 1 - Episodes 1 and 2 - Midnight On The Firing Line / Soul Hunter [1994]
Babylon 5 is a different kind of Sci-Fi. Unlike many other series it tells a continuous story over 5 years. This sets it aside from most of the Star Trek franchise, because, with the exception of later DS9, Trek tends to be in one episode stories. Not so here. In this first tape the scene is set, introducing characters and describing the universe. Midnight on the Firing Line forshadows much that is to follow, with references to Earth politics, Narn - Centauri hostility and a little gun-boat diplomacy. Soul Hunter looks at some of the more metaphysical aspects of the show, the beliefs and traditions of some of the significant alien races. Secrets also begin to be revealed. Although neither episode is a true classic by Babylon 5 standards ... Read More:

VHS : Babylon 5 - Vol. 2 - Episodes 3 and 4 - Born To The Purple / Infection [1994]
'Born to the Purple' shows us the tender side of the Centauri Ambassador Mollari, as expressed through his feelings for Adira. It is a very good episode and Adira, although we never see her again, is a catalyst in the third Season. 'Infection' plays with the human primal fear of alien infestation and transforming into the "other". I thought it was kind of sad, actually, since the alien was the last of its kind and carried the guilt of its race extinction.

4.Babylon 5 - Pilot [1993] starring: Michael O'Hare, Tamlyn Tomita, Jerry Doyle, Mira Furlan, Blaire Baron

VHS : Babylon 5 - Pilot [1993]
Babylon 5 is one of my all-time favourite shows and although this pilot episode for the series is nowhere near as good as the show itself, it is still enjoyable. As the alien ambassadors gather on Babylon 5 the Vorlon representative Kosh is the target of an assassination attempt and the stations commander Jeffrey Sinclair is implicated.

Although not nearly as good as the series itself, this pilot does include some of the things that made Babylon 5 so good, such as an interesting plot and generally good writing. On the downside much of the CGI effects used here are rather poor and some of the acting on display is truly atrocious. There are a few changes between here and the series proper, with three of the characters being replaced ... Read More:

VHS : Star Trek The Next Generation - Vol. 1.4 - Hide and Q / Haven / The Big Goodbye
Here is a brilliant example of how Star Trek The Next Generation managed to be brilliant even in its very first season, and still be just as great today!
Star Trek 1.4 begins with the episode "Hide & Q", involving Picards most annoying nemesis, Q, for a second time since the pilot episode.
Q returns to play a game on the Enterprise, and ultimately test the first officer, William T. Riker, for a personal matter. Riker ends up with the power of the gods, the responsibility of a million people, and the ego of a popstar.
Picard needs to return Riker to his normal self before Riker's self assurance becomes dangerous.
This episode is a very fun experience, and keeps the viewer wondering what on earth will happen next?!
