VHS : A Stitch In Time [1963]
Like most Norman Wisdom films, this one really makes you wonder how the "star" became a star. Upstaged & outranked by much of the supporting crew, Norman mugs, shouts, mugs, screams, mugs, waddles & weeps his way through yet another egotistical exercise in belittling the larger than life in favour of the smaller than life.

If the legendary British "everyman" of 1963 was really in need of such dire buttressing & pampering via cheap commercial entertainment, then Jerry Lewis & Dean Martin can be more than forgiven.

Having said that, it's an enjoyable film, in its own wretched way :)

This was the first ever Norman Wisdom film I saw, and I fell in love with it that very first time. It's a HILARIOUS film, and is clever in so many ways. Not just a slapstick film, although there's plenty of it for the kiddies. The thing I like best about this film is the number of expressions Wisdom is able to pull off. I didn't know so many existed!! And they all make you fall on the ground in laughter. An absolute MUST SEE for any comedy fan, especially those who enjoy the American comic, Jerry Lewis.

"Much Maligned, but enjoyable"

Much maligned? What on earth do you mean by that!!!??

Until Eric's death, Morecambe & Wise were THE British comedy duo - these three movies easily stand the test of time, and are each classics. Unlike most comedies from their time, they are still hilarious. They bring back memories of their shows, and great times. A Must for any fan of English humour.

In this film, one of his last, Norman plays 3 different parts – Norman Shields the newspaper seller, his mother (flashes back to when she was a suffragette) and his grandfather the Prime Minister.
Notoriously late Norman has an interview with his grandfather, who sends Norman off to a small seaside town to become a reporter.
Norman causes chaos from day one, losing his bike (ending up chasing the thief on a double decker bus, annoying the editor, becoming drunk, causing the towns councillors to fight and bicker, running a beauty contest (women parading around in bikinis) and having a helping hand in making a brand new house collapse.
One thing missing – no singing, not that the film needed any.
This will have you laughing ... Read More:
