VHS : Out On A Limb - Shirley MacLaine [1994]
I was very fortunate in being able to view "Out on a Limb" whilst visiting Germany earlier this year, on a spiritual visit to see Mother Meera. I found the story absolutely amazing and it gives an insight into things we don't understand and which a lot of people refus to accept. You need an open mind to view this film.

VHS : Star Trek : Episode 1 - The Cage [1964]
Admittedly it is hard to think about "The Cage" independently of the rest of the original Star Trek series. After all, there is Leonard Nimoy as Spock running around "as he was then" with his future Vulcan stoicism plastered on Majel Barrett's Number One. But for the sake of argument this time around, instead of comparing "The Cage" to the rest of the series, I want to try and deal with it on its own terms given the state of Science Fiction in the 1960's and as a Pilot episode. From that perspective "The Cage" has several compelling elements.

First, there is a sense that the Star Trek universe exists out there. As the Thalosians steal Pike's memories to use against him we are introduced to bits and pieces of what has already been ... Read More:

VHS : Star Trek : Episode 1 - The Cage - The Original TV Pilot Episode [1964]
This is a fascinating glipse of a Star Trek that superficially resembles the original series, but is quite different in many ways. 'The Cage' has a very 50's feel about it, recalling the great SF classic fims like 'Forbidden Planet'. There are no miniskirts or long hair and the cast is completely different apart from Spock, who smiles!

But don't just buy this out of curiosity. This is a fine story and Jeffrey Hunter is a superb captain who, if he had stayed with the series, would have been as good (if not better) than William Shatner.

VHS : Pumping Iron - With Arnold Schwarzenegger [1976]
You will never get a better chance to see a movie star in embryonic form than watching 28-year old Austrian body builder Arnold Schwarzenegger in this 1976 documentary about bodybuilding. Arnold is "Pumping Iron" to win his sixth straight Mr. Olympia title and the future Terminator steals the spotlight from his competitors (including Lou Ferrigno in his pre-Incredible Hulk days) with relative ease. Directors George Butler and Robert Fiore capture the world of competitive bodybuilding on film, but it is Arnold who makes it all seem like such a noble effort. With his natural charm and his single-minded determination, it is easy in retrospect to see why he became such a box officer star. This is a man who has always been comfortable with who he ... The show is great. But the packaging for an NTSC Box Set is exstremely poor. Infact the worst I^ve ever seen. The plastic pages that hold the dvd discs are cracked and the thin cardboard cover over them dented and creased. No matter how padded the envelope they are sent out in the Box Set packaging is so poor that it arrives damaged. Surely the maufacturer/ designer even with limited funds could of done a better job than this on the product.!

9.San Antonio [1945] starring: Errol Flynn, Alexis Smith, S.Z. Sakall, Victor Francen, Florence Bates

VHS : San Antonio [1945]
"You mean to tell me this little mud Indian village is San Antonio?" says the singer, Jeanne Starr (Alexis Smith), as her stagecoach swings into the plaza.
"Oh, it's nice! You will like it!" bubbles her manager, Sacha Bozic (S. Z. Sakall).
"As far as I'm concerned it's just another place full of wild savages." She's already met Clay Hardin (Errol Flynn), so we know the town can't be that bad. On the other hand, she has yet to encounter the movie's two murderous villains, Roy Stuart (Paul Kelly) and the smooth Legare (Victor Francen).

San Antonio is better than a routine western, but still not much more than a pleasant way to spend an hour and a half. It's the story of Clay Hardin and his determination to bring to justice the king ... Read More:
