After watching the trailer for this film it looked like it was well worth taking a look at this film as I thought it could be a sleeper, on first viewing I thought I was wrong. I do like Eddie Murphy, but he's not the most consistent actor in Hollywood when it comes to his choice of film to make. There are lots of faces that people will recognise, a strangely restrained Randy Quaid, Joe Pantoliano, an unfunny role for the late great Peter Boyle and good turns by both John Cleese and Luis Guzman, plus Pam Grier who has a couple of shorts scenes too. With the cast assembled this could and should have been a riot, but it's takes at least 10 minutes to get going, there are some good moments and I like the idea ... Read More:

I love this film, I really do. This DVD copy however is dreadful quality far outstripped by my original VHS copy. It looks for all the world like a pirate version badly recorded from a theatre seat. It's not real wide screen but a bad approximation, it's grainy and over coloured, the sound is horrible and it's obvious that the distributor couldn't give a crap about one of the finest B movies ever released. If this is the best that Universal can do to stop the spread of piracy then it's a sad day and it's obvious that they are not below stooping to the quality and rip off tactics of the pirate. Come on Universal, give us a good quality well mastered version and I would happily pay more but don't foist this awful ... Read More:

This movie is not heavy on political humor, but it is a fun one to watch. I have enjoyed this comedy many times for its light-hearted banter between a man and a woman.

Persevere past the beginning and this movie blossoms into one of the greatest feel-good movies of all time. Excellent casting, particularly of Robert Downey Jr, together with great direction has made this a film that I have wanted on my shelf since I first watched it. Shame that it is only available as Region 1 NTSC, but worth buying a multi-region DVD player just to watch it.
