VHS : The Never Ending Story & The Never Ending Story 2 [1985]
I loved this when I was a kid.
Now I'm old (haha) and have kids of my own.

We sat down together this weekend to watch this film.... I knew it would be good and that the kids would love it, but I had forgotten just how good it really is.

Every scene in the film is intense - exciting, sad, funny, scarey...
There is no let up from begining to end.

One minute you want to cry because all seems lost and the scene is overwhelmingly sad.
The next, your flying on the back of a dragon-dog all excited and enchanted.

Having watched hundreds of films in my lifetime so far - I have to say that this is the best film I have ever seen.

An absolute triumph.

Spread over two discs with no extras and no space wasted, this is an outstanding DVD of an outstanding series, shown here as one long "movie" cut. The optional dubbed English audio track might offend the purists (me included), but bear in mind two things: one, the whole thing was dubbed anyway (in German), because the set was so noisy and two, the entire cast spoke English and dubbed themselves, so it's a LOT better than you might expect, should you find yourself using the English track as a means to get someone to see it! Hopefully it won't come to that...

VHS : Troy
I'm sick of people constantly talking about how "Troy" should have been called "Achilles". This is ridiculous, first off the whole point of the Iliad was to glorify Achilles, so if you have a problem with the story focusing on Achilles you don't know squat. In my opinion as a teenager I thought the movie was excellent, I know it didn't stick to the Iliad but besides that it was a great production. Brad Pitt did an excellent job in portraying Achilles he was a stern, fierce warrior who gloried in being the best fighter on Earth. I know the History buffs are dissapointed about the films innaccuracy to the Iliad but who cares this truely was a great film and deserves applaud. From the hatred between Achilles and Agamemmnon to the insane fight scenes ... Read More:

VHS : Shattered [1991]
The story that really takes you in so strongly, from the first scene, that it makes time fly so fast. Story gives you hints all through the film but you never guess what really happens next. So clever story telling, it is rarely exsisting. Story developes well from plot point to plot point. At first you may think its just an ordinary love story, but life is never that black and white. Loving wife is so, in love, that it makes you suspicious, you smell the smoke but where's the fire. The puzzle starts to get gathered piece by piece when private investigator starts to believe in the true nature of things. The truth is not revealed until the last door has opened, the question is, are you ready to open that door? To find out more, I surely recommend you to do ... Read More:

VHS : Air Force One [1997]
President James Marshall (Ford) is in danger when a group of Russian terrorists take control of Air Force One.

Wolfgang Peterson (In the line of fire) delivers a fast and tense action thriller in which Harrison Ford (Star Wars) gives a good performance as President Marshall alongside a terrific act by Gary Oldman (Dracula) as the lead terrorist Ivan Korshunov.

Ford and Oldman give good performances but the star of the show is Peterson whose action style of direction maintains the tension and delivers excitement and claustrophobia on all the right levels, as does the writing by Andrew Marlowe.

The film gets off to the right start with a group of agents parachuting into General Radek's mansion and kidnapping him, laying ... Read More:

VHS : In The Line Of Fire [1993]
In The Line of Fire is another fantastic film from Clints 'latter years', though it's always nice to see by this time he still had a full voice and wasn't so creaky. The storyline is good enough to keep you hooked, while the plot, though has been done quite a few times before, is given a 'Presidential' makeover when looney-assasin John Malkovich plans to kill the President before the end of the current elections.

It's also funny in its own way that he still has this amazing ability to attract even young women, as he so does in this film despite the 40/50 year age gap. Must be his own brand of aftershave... Davidoff hasn't pulled for me yet!

What's also nice to see is that he puts a smile on his face regularly whilst sweet-talking his assistant on ... Read More:
