This is easily the greatest disney film every. 1) the songs are awesome. "Gaston" had me chuckling away. 2) the animation, especially in the snow and the forests, is just amazing 3) you can read as much depth as you want into the story. Unlike virtually every other fairy tale, especially disney stories, belle isn't a princess. She's not even all that poor. She's a middle class girl in a rural environment. And the thing that she likes most in the world? Reading. how awesome is that? she doesn't just fall in love with the main guy in town, she goes for the guy with the biggest library. Tarzan & Jane, like Cinderella II, is a series of animated stories and not a feature-length film. Whilst Little Mermaid II and Lady & the Tramp II were essentially inverted remakes of the originals (Meoldy wants to be a mermaid as much as Ariel wanted to be human, and Scamp wants to be wild as much as Tramp became a house-dog), this latest serving from Disney house of re-makes copies the Cinderella II formula for providing short stories based on the Tarzan & Jane characters. The animation is not a patch on the original Tarzan film, and does spoil the film. This story is both funny and Heartwarming, with teary moments inbetween. It starts with the gorky school girl, Mia Thermopolis (Anne Hathaway), going through normal life with her wish to be invisible. But this wish is challenged when her estranged grandmother (Julie Andrews) arrives from Genovia with the hope that Mia will follow in her footsteps by becoming Princess of Genovia. Mia reluctantly accepts after many trials and tribulations. Halfway through this memorable film, you as a viewer begin to wonder: After an awful beach party, loosing friends and her grandmother falling in love with a bodyguard, can she cope or will she do the same as her father? This is a must-watch film, which is different from all others. How did they do it?!
