VHS : Dancin' Thru The Dark [1989]
This film is an absolute gem that never dates. I could rave on about it for hours but I will try not to and attempt to provide a review that gives a balanced account of it.

I first saw this on tv. It was up against Fatal Attraction on another channel and I had to choose which to 'watch' and which to record for later. At the very last minute I changed my mind from recording FA and decided I would tape 'Dancin' thru the Dark' instead. Well..... it was the best decision I have EVER made!!! I couldn't even try to count how many times I have watched it over the years.

The story of Linda (Claire Hackett) & Peter (Con O'Neill) is one of first loves, peer pressure & life in the North of England.

VHS : Monte Carlo or Bust [1969]
Peter Cook and Dudley Moore are only two of the galaxy of stars who all have great parts in this classic 60's comedy about the famous car rally across Europe. Tony Curtis, Terry Thomas, Eric Sykes, Susan Hampshire and Gert Frobel all have dirty tricks up their sleeves to be first across the line as they face the hazards of the frozen North, the Alps etc. "Pete n' Dud" appear as two maniac Army officers in what is my favourite of all their performances. This film is the real story of the 60's cartoon serial "The Wacky Races" and you will recognise the Dick Dastardly character immediately as Terry Thomas (and Eric Sykes, the sneaky butler who translates brilliantly as "Mutley, The Snickering Hound" in "The Wacky Races"!) The media coverage of the race ... Read More:

VHS : Hobson's Choice [1954]
For those who didn't know, and I was one of them, a Hobson's choice is a free choice, but where only one option is really available. At the end of Hobson's Choice, a fine, vulgar, poignant and very funny film directed by David Lean, this is what Henry Horatio Hobson faces. Elements of the plot are discussed.

Hobson (Charles Laughton) is a prosperous shoe and boot merchant in the small town of Salford, England. The time is the 1880s. Hobson is a widower, a blusterer, a man accustomed to his comforts, his drink and his ease. He is, thanks to Laughton, larger than life, a man we can laugh at but not a man we'd probably want as a neighbor. He has three daughters. Maggie (Brenda De Banzie) is 30. She is, says her father, "a bit ripe" for marriage ... Read More:

VHS : Dennis [1993]
After my young son watched this film twice in one day I decided to watch with him, at the third showing!. `Dennis` is so typical of all children at that age, and I could see what my son found so amusing as he would tend to do the same things given half the chance. Having a bad guy also helped to keep the story going. For us adults though, Walter Matthau proves to be a real comic genius. Think of `Home Alone` but without Macaulay Culkin, thank goodness!.

VHS : Up 'n' Under [1998]
This film is a comedy which means that you dont take the rugby scenes or the rules of rugby etc seriously, its about the good winning the battle against bad, the soundtrack is excellent and the down to earth attitude of the actors is great, especially the part of the commentator which is played by Gryff Rhys Jones, and Neil Morrissey is great.
Very watchable and funny film

This is a film that I went to see at the cinema on a whim. I liked Kenneth Brannagh's earlier films, especially Much Ado About Nothing, and had a couple of hours to kill.

I came out of the cinema feeling fantastically uplifted.

Why can't I get this film on DVD??????
