VHS : Formula 1 Grand Prix Review 1994
This was the infamous and controversial year that had Schumacher disqualified in Belgium and banned from the races in Italy and Portugal. There were solid allegations that the Benetton had illegal traction and launch control and was incredibly found not guilty. The season ends as controversially as it had went on, with Schumacher colliding with Hill in Australia to win the championship. And last, but not least: the deaths of Senna and Ratzenberger.

I can see why one may be curious to see Senna and Ratzenberger's fatal accidents. You would be better off watching them online. The tributes to them in this video were fitting.

It was quite good but lacked information, especially about the top six placings and the video could ... Read More:

VHS : The Power And The Glory
Exacly as you would expect from the BBC, very well researched in depth historical documentary of motorsport in 13 parts with enormous amounts of interviews and footage (colour and black and white). TWO tapes of motor sport heaven. Starting with the race for the landspeed record, the great italian road races including in car footage and Stirling Moss interview, great grand prix coverage (pre traction control and seatbelts) interviews with Fangio, Jackie Stewart etc, in car nurburg ring footage, rallying including Ari Vatanen and the Unser family at Pikes Peak (in car again), saloon cars with sideways Jim Clark action, amazing pre war colour footage of Auto Unions blowing donnington and a British Grand Prix apart. Anybody with a passion for motor racing will ... Read More:

The 1986 Formula 1 season was one of the best ever. This is a well presented video, with Clive James' wit and love of the sport evident throughout. There is good coverage of the qualifying and race sessions, with enough of the politics in between to keep everyone interested, and without becoming bogged down with too much detail.

If you want to see a season where there was actually racing and overtaking, this is the one to go for. The season goes down to the last race (in Australia), with three drivers each having a chance at the coveted Drivers Championship.

VHS : Walking With Dinosaurs [1999]
I watched this series on TV when it came out and remembered it as an enjoyable documentary series with CGI dinosaurs and landscapes that looked very real. I recently wanted to get something that would interest my young children so I bought this DVD. My decision has turned out a very good one as "my brood" is completely hooked on dinosaurs and want to watch the series over and over again. It has also prompted me to read up more on some of the different species. There appears to be some controversy over size of the different dinosaurs, such as Liopleurodon, but that's not a really big deal for casual enthusiasts like myself. Therefore it is highly recommended for people of similar background in the subject.

The review is very informative, with lots of interviews. But the amount of qualifying shown is a bit to much. It does tell you who's new to formula 1 and alot of background info.

This is the best of the F1 reviews from the 80's, in my opinion. The racing and footage are excellent, especially those moments of sublime thuggery from the fantastic Keke Rosberg, and the season reached a terrific climax with Prost, Tambay, Arnoux and Piquet all in the running almost to the end.
However, the thing that makes it stand out is the commentary. Rather than overdubbing in the past tense, and telling you -infuriatingly - what you are about to see moments before you see it, as on the other videos, on this one the commentator talks in the present tense, with the excitement of a live broadcast. Screams of 'Get out of the car, Nelson,' as Piquet parks up his flaming Brabham add greatly to the watching experience.
On the downside, there is, for no immediately ... Read More:
