Well, if you're looking for a gentle introduction to line dancing, this isn't it. My friend and I, thought (as you do sometimes) we would have an evening in and see if we could get a bit fitter with line dancing. It's not your average way to get fit, but we thought it'd be fun. How wrong could we be? We were expecting step by step instructions, not fully choreographed dances from the start. It was an absolutely hilarious night, but we still have no clue how to line dance! :o)

This video is excellent. If you want to learn the jive then buy this one. The dancing is good, the commentary is clear, and the natural progress from absolute beginner to advanced is made in distinct stages. Each of these stages is supplemented by clips of good club dancers having fun and reinforcing what you have already learned. There is no problem with the music on this video, the jive is danced to jive music. The club dancers have even dressed up accordingly in order to help radiate an atmosphere, and to add glamour to the performance. This is a video for your collection.

This video is generally quite good if you're a very beginner as it teaches you some (but not all) of the basic salsa steps. As well as this, there is a short section on styling so that you don't look wooden when you dance. The first section you dance on your own and later in the video, dancing with a partner is covered. Unfortunately the importance of the lead isn't emphasised or shown enough so the guys may get a little lost with this video. Although this is a nice introduction to salsa, if you don't plan to take up proper lessons then you may find this video frustrating after you have watched it a few times as it is very limited in what it teaches you. Kav does an excellent job of teaching and makes simple and easy to learn moves that at first look complicated. He provides lots of repetition and practice and his occasional mild humour helps. The backing music is great. Now we're used to watching DVDs, going back to VHS tapes on a 42" screen shows that the definition was not as good on tape. However, this is still thoroughly recommended.

I bought this video for my daughter's third Birthday - over a year latershe still watches it over and over again. Two little girls start balletlessons and we join them being fitted for shoes and even see some of thierfriends taking thier first exams. A great introduction to the basicballet positions, we are also treated to a visit to the Arts EducationalSchool at Tring. We join a young lady who wants to pursue ballet to ahigher level, visiting the school for a look round. Great value and I'dagree with the reviewer of the other film in the 'set' - great Birthdaypresents for all those parties!
