VHS : 3 x 3 Eyes - Part 3 [1995]
The terrific pace of the 3x3 Eyes Manga continues in this, the third episode of the story. After the confusing events in which Yakamo Fuji finds Pai, his one time lover and mystical companion on a quest to become mortal, as a schoolgirl in Tokyo, the story moves on as Pai gradually regains her memory and her Sanzan side comes through once again. The amazing skill with which the original comic has been transformed into a breathtaking panorama of graphical detail. Though the voiceovers do 'grate' a little at times, and some of the dialogue does not translate from the original Japanese very well, 3x3 Eyes is a great Manga to get involved with - and once you're hooked, you will without doubt move on to episodes 4 and 5 where the true brilliance ... VHS : Rumik World - Mermaid Forest
I think my main disappointment of this film was that I bought it and, after watching it, realised I had seen it already. I wouldn't mind, of course, if I actually enjoyed the film. I watched it, and won't be doing so again. There seems to be something lacking in it. The main male character was amazingly bad at...well...everything really. You would think that having been around for as long as he has, not being able to stay dead, he would have learned afew things on the way. But no. The mindless actions of the main 'bad' character are only possible through the co-operation of two people, who wouldn't be doing what they were doing for the reasons they were doing it. I mean, c'mon. This is the second Rumik World video I've seen, and I doubt I will ... Read More:

The other reviewer was a bit unfair in my opinion and obviously didn't find the humour appealing. I don't suppose I blame him as you really need to have no morals at all to find this remotely funny (or at least be so intoxicated that you really don't care that the vicar is getting umm orally stimulated by the female corpse he is conducting a funeral for) Excellent stuff!
If you are planning to have a few mates round for a couple of beers then stick this in your machine and give them an ... Read More:

VHS : Blue Sonnet - Mission 3 / Mission 4 / Mission 5 [1989]
Blue Sonnet is a classic anime sci-fi series, which focuses on the evil in genetic experimentation. It also has a very human feel to it, which makes the characters easy to relate to, and ultimately gives the powerful story even more impact. It is based around an average schoolgirl called Ran, who finds herself in danger when a higher power discovers her supernatural telekenetic powers. It is particularly interesting to see Blue Sonnet, a gouvernment-controlled female cyborg, harnessing feelings for those who she is told to be her enemies. You can feel her pain as she is forced to murder the innocent, including children, for the Gouvernment's selfish plans. This is all laced with engrossing action, which keeps the epic story moving swiftly on. The ... Read More:

VHS : Street Fighter II V - Vol. 1
Even though you'd probably think that the series of Street Fighter 2 can't be as good as the games, you'd be wrong here. It has brilliant action, a simple but very envolving storyline and the characters personalities are easily distinguished. The fights are nice, with very smooth action. The only let down is the poor quality of dubbing, but apart from that, It's wonderful all the way...until you get to the end which is frustratingly to be continued which means you desperately want volume 2!

VHS : Giant Robo - Part 7 / Barefoot Ginrei
Please believe me when I say this show is really really really good. If you like giant robots and magic super powers then this is a must. This is the show that got me into anime when I was 14 ( Im now 24 ). I can't tell you to much about the plot because there are so many plot twists and constant surprises that I can't give them away.
But basically The villians, BIG FIRE, and the hero's, BIG NINE, fight with big robots and magic on a global scale and strong issues of following a fathers footsteps and fulfilling promises. Buy it you wont regret it.

VHS : Ghost In The Shell [1995]
`Ghost in the Shell' and `Akira' are often hailed as something of a turning point for Japanese Animated film - it's grown up, articulate, deep.

When you watch this DVD, if it's the first time you've seen the film then much of what you see feels familiar. And that's not surprising considering this has embedded itself deep into film culture - take the opening credits for example and you'll see the direct influence on American thought-provoker - the Matrix.

This film presents concepts which take some thinking about to fully understand, definitely a film to be watched twice. This feels more like a live action film than anime, and that's not all down to the beautifully detailed artwork, it's due to the realistic feel of the story. ... Read More:

VHS : Rumik World - Laughing Target
This is essentially a horror story about a girl called Azuza with demonic supernatural powers who returns to claim her cousin, Usuru, who was betrothed to her in childhood after her mother dies in mysterious circumstances. However, Usuru has grown up, forgotten his committment to her and established a relationship with another girl: Saotome. Needless to say, Azuza is murderously jealous of Saotome and goes out of her way to make sure she keeps away from her man- at any cost.

Although the characters are a bit shallow, the English voice acting is silly and there's not much of a plot involved, it's a very pretty anime, and it's certainly entertaining. It's a great anime to watch when you want something to just wash over you, or when you want something cheesy ... Read More:
