VHS : The Big Blue: Version Longue [1989]
I first watched this movie in 1992 in America and loved it. The calmness of Jacques was so ethereal and gave Jean Reno a chance to shine so comically. I became an instant fan and started watching more Luc Besson movies. However, on returning to the UK and purchasing it for a friend, I was mortified by the Eric Sierra score which jarred with the story. To add insult to injury, I purchased 2 soundtrack cd's hoping for the Goldsmith music. So what I'm trying to say is, watch the US version which is a completely different experience.

The 2 reviews shown for this film are for the wrong Shanghai Express!

To the best of my knowledge Marlene Dietrich didn't star in too many martial arts films. I'm planning to watch the film (the right one) in the next week or three, and maybe I'll write a review when I get some time again.

VHS : Destiny Turns On The Radio [1995]
I've read some very bad reviews of this film but personally I think It rules. It's interesting, funny, the acting is right on the money and I think very Tarantino in content. If, as well as his own directing you like all other Tarantino progects - the From dusk till dawn dawn series, Curdled, Four rooms you will love this.

VHS : Forever Young [1993]
FOREVER YOUNG, in my opinion, is an excellent drama that will warm your heart and stay with you eternally. When Daniel (Mel Gibson) got thawed out in 1992, I was really shocked. This was because he met and fell in love with Claire (Jamie Lee Curtis). It was sad he had just lost his girlfriend (Isabel Glaser) in 1939, though. I also enjoyed seeing George Wendt (Harry), too. The moment I found out he was in this, I was taken aback. If you ask me, the performances were good, the direction was excellent, and the cast was perfectly chosen. Now, in conclusion, I highly recommend this excellent drama that will warm your heart and stay with you eternally to any Mel Gibson or Jamie Lee Curtis fan who hasn't seen it. You're in for a feel good time, so go to the ... Read More:

VHS : Sharpe [1993]
I was 14 years old when these films started appearing on our screens and loved them for their action and content. I'm now 23 years old and having seen the movies in my youth, was motivated to read the novels. I now have all 18 Sharpe novels on my bookshelf and the smaller booklet of Sharpe's Skirmish too.
Going back to the films after having read the truly excellent novels by Bernhard Cornwell was on the whole, the worst mistake I ever made as it showed them up for what they really are: cheap imitations. I know that the film always differs from the book, but these Sharpe movies don't just differ; they rip the novels to shreds... Sean Bean is an acclaimed actor worldwide, but for me the man is so wooden it gives me splinters just to watch him. The format behind ... Read More:

VHS : Sharpe's Mission [1996]
aslong as you like Sharpe you'll like this.As usual the storyline is a mix of the good(sharpe) versus the evil french(in this case Ducos is back). Although those who havent seen sharpe may enjoy it too, as it has a good storyline throughout. It is as excellent as usual, with its awe inspiring scenes of rural countryside, to its contrast of the well choreographed bloody war scenes. Its certainly a must for all sharpe fans!

VHS : Sharpe's Company [1994]
Whatever my record was for urging one character to kill another in a movie, I surely broke it while watching "Sharpe's Company." This is the third film in the series based on the novels of Bernard Cromwell and is set in Spain in 1812 as the Duke of Wellington begins his invasion of Spain from Portugal while Napoleon is preoccupied with developments in northern Europe. The key to a successful campaign is the capture of two great fortresses, Ciudad Rodrigo in the north and Badajoz in the south. Meanwhile, Richard Sharpe (Sean Bean) has his own concerns.

First, Sharpe is demoted to lieutenant, when the captancy of his unit is purchased a nobleman. That means are hero longs to do something that will get his rank back so that he cannot lose it again, and being the first ... Read More:

VHS : Sharpe's Siege [1996]
This is probably the most satisfying of the "Sharpe" series. Although differing from the book in some key ares ( the absence of the Americans for one, and no mention of the USA entering the war on Bonaparte's side) it retains the excitement and characterisation we have come to expect.

What gives it added enjoyment is the interplay between Sharpe and Harper which has rarely been as understated or witty. The scene where Harper pulls out his own tooth is touching and amusing, with Sean Bean giving full rein to his Yorkshire accent - "Go on Patrick, get t'bugger out!".

The framing of the story between Sharpes wife Jane falling ill as he sets out and his return is also handled well. The villainous Ducos is for once edged down, by the coolly deceptive ... Read More:

VHS : The Last Of The Mohicans [1992]
This is one of my all time favourite movies. Great mix of acting, action, drama, audio, and video all wrapped around a superb story.
Don't get the director's cut, the original is almost perfect.
I'm still of the belief that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The theatrical release wasn't broke.
I just found out that the original was available in the UK and ordered it, because it is not available in North America. Review is from Canada.
