VHS : The Thomas Crown Affair [1968]
A wonderful performance. I loved first watching it 20 years ago. McQueen's charisma is unbeatable. They should never have bothered with the Brosnan remake.

VHS : The Hour Of The Pig [1994]
Clever Parisian lawyer moves to the country to bring law to the people, but finds himself outsmarted by simple country folk at every turn. Of course he decides that if you can't beat them, join them - especially when he finds himself defending a pig on a charge of murder. In a world where a man and a donkey are prepared for execution and the donkey gets a reprieve and the man doesn't, what would you do? In the end he unwittingly makes a lucky escape and the "smart" folk don't. Good clean fun - except for the dirt and squalor - with a memorable turn from Ian Holm as a less-than-upright priest.

VHS : Haunted [1995]
A really underrated and superbly acted ghost story, similar in feel
To the Others. Aidan Quinn specialises in debunking paranormal
Events. But he is called out to a country mansion to investigate
A woman who claims she is haunted.

And when events start to happen all is not at it seems.
Great chemistry Between Beckinsale and Quinn. Also A.Andrews and Gielgud are very Good. Andrews strange relationship with Beckinsale and a subplot About Quinns ghosts of his own past either real or imagined, are all explained at the end. But for me Beckinsale steals the movie she looks great and plays her role well, highly recommended.

VHS : The Postman Always Rings Twice [1981]
This is not the sort of film I like to watch and the first time I saw it it left a bad taste in my mouth and even made me angry. Except for the sex scene in the kitchen that is. That left me feeling awe and admiration. I was convinced from the start that here I was one of the finest things ever seen on film - a ten minute work of art in itself, comparable, on different grounds, to anything that Manny Farber had ever singled out from it's context.
Since then I have been compelled to admire the sheer craftsmanship with which the film is put together - it's tone, texture, pace, editing, acting, everything.
Anyone reasonably versed in literature could hardly fail to recognise that this is a re-working of 'Macbeth' and 'Therese Raquin' with the new ... Read More:

I worked on this trial as a member of the judicial staff in Oregon, so have personal experience of Diane Downs, the witnesses, prosecutor and defense counsel. Like everyone else, I was very dubious when I heard that a film was scheduled for production. I was very surprised that when the film was released, it was a very accurate reflection of what I witnessed in the six-week trial. In fact, the film of the trial was less dramatic than the trial itself, especially when daughter Christie testified, which remains the most dramatic moment I have ever witnessed. Farrah Fawcett did a superb job, although to this day I don't know why she adopted a southern accent, when Diane doesn't speak this way. If you have read Ann Rule's book of the same name, you won't be disappointed.

VHS : Sleeping With The Enemy [1991]
I found the film a fantastic interpretation of how completly loanly, trapped, and not forgetting just how fearfull someone would feel if in this situation. Julia Roberts portrat of this charector was excelent she brought out all sorts of emotions from my feeling fear, hurt, worthless, anger, I felt I was alongside her charector wanting to help her I found myself shouting at the screen on a number of accasions, also the way I was made to feel towards the husband was quiet real. The ending was outstanding I got to the point of very vilent thoughts being made towards the husband. A great insight to how domestic vilence can be at this extream and how difficult it would be for the wife to escape the violence the amount of planing it would take and the time this would take while ...
