This is the collector's edition and I suggest you get it while you can, as they only sold them up til Christmas Eve of '97, which should make them quite valuable!
And I know because I almost wasn't able to grab one, so get one off Amazon now, keep it for a few years and hope it becomes more valuable in a few years!!

VHS : Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace [1999]
OK where to start on this truly horrific crime of a film?

Jar Jar Binks may actually be the worst character in the history of cinema - all those animators and actors who worked to realise this affront to human decency should find a revolver and do the decent thing.

Why do all American kids have problems talking properly? Do they think that speaking like a cutesy 3 year old makes them endearing? Jake whatshisname (Anakin) should never ever be allowed in front of a camera again.

Who came up with the 'story'? My ship is broken, want to come with us, Kid? Seems to be about it.

Also,Why is it that in 'attack of the clones' Anakin has aged about ten years, but Padme is (amazingly) about 3 years older ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The Invisible Enemy [1977]
Yes even though even i wonder why the Doctor seems to have no blood in his brain when he and Leela are cloned and injected into his neck, and how they can breathe as well...well, maybe he doesnt have much blood, he is an alien after all! And maybe he does have an airy head!

Despite these quirks in the script, this story is still highly watchable and entertaining. And doesnt the nucleus just look so cool? Attack of the killer prawn with attitude, although the voice by John Leeson is great! And this story did introduce the cool K9 too. And the spacesuited men whove been overtaken by the virus are actually pretty creepy. And despite the budget restraints, this story doesnt look too bad either. And also i think Tom's acting is great in this story, ... Read More:

VHS : Dr Who - Meglos [1980]
Tom's gargantuan reputation cannot conceal the fact that so many of his stories were terrible. aided and abetted by the smug Romana who cannot act to save her life and has to be put with comic buffoon males to make her look smart (ANYONE would be smarter than Brotodac and Gurgger!), Tom can barely hold the attention of the audience in this disposable outing.
The main gripes are that this is basically a giant pantomime, like a lot of other stories after the end of the Hinchcliffe era, Invisible Enemy, Horns of Nimon, TimeLash, etc. But I think Dr.Who does pantomime very cleverly and the panto episodes are some of the show's most entertaining. twin Dilemma is a pantomime with a black heart and an unhinged Doctor, but this is just pointless and shallow. VHS : Doctor Who - The Day Of The Daleks [1972]
The ninth season of Doctor Who opened with a group of guerillas from earth in the twenty-third century, travelling back three hundred years in time. Their mission is to assassinate a British diplomat and sabotage a peace process. They believe that by doing so, they can prevent a great terror in the future.
The Daleks return to Doctor Who after a five year absence. This is an enjoyable, if not classic, adventure from Pertwee's era. Pertwee and the regulars are all on fine form. A special mention must go to Aubrey Woods for a memorable strong performance as the Controller in the future earth, who must wrestle with his conscience. This was also the story which introduced the brutal Ogrons.
There are some disappointments. The Dalek voices are different, ... Read More:

Every time I watch this one, it starts off superb but then by episode four it starts to collapse. Patrly because the Metebelis Three people are so stupid and can't act. There are mostly good speical effects all along, and the regeneration is fairly standard, but female spiders?

I bought the video because I wanted to see what Pertwee's last season was like with Sarah Jayne. After hearing bad things about Pertwee's last season, I was pleasantly surprised. Sarah Jayne was no doubt a big improvement on Jo Grant. The story begins when the Doctor and Sarah crash land on an eerie dark planet which has drained their power so it begins very atmospheric and scary, and is a pretty grippping story throughout. The sets and effects are actually quite impressive, especially when the root comes out of the ground and destroys a dalek. Just overlook the dodgy model work when the city collapses at the end. This is a unique Pertwee story because it is a rare occasion when the story isn't Earth based with no Brigidier. If only more Pertwee stories had been like that. This ... Read More:

1: Tom Baker is excellent as the deranged Xoanon

2: Louise makes a brilliant entrance as Leela

3: The horda are cute.

4: The tesh are gits, but likeable ones, with their arm flapping!

5: Tom is great as ever as the Doc too.

6: The tribe have more developed characters than usual.

7: Great comic moments, especially how Leela runs into the TARDIS despite the Doc not really wanting to take her.

8: We for once get a sizeable chunk of story to see whats happened after the enemy has been thwarted, which is a nice change.

9: the staue looks impressive.

10: Good actual 25 min eps for a change!

Need I go on?

VHS : Doctor Who - The First Doctor (The Sensorites [1964] / The Time Meddler [1965] / The Gunfighters [1966])
William Hartnell had very few dissapointing stories, and The Time Meddler and The Gunfighters arent two of them, but The Sensorites is quite slow but still entertaining in places. Thats why I give this 4 and a half stars, as The Sensorites gets off to a very good and suspenseful start but then just fizzles out. But the other two historical stories in this set do not dissapoint hardly at all. the Time Meddler takes a while to get started but when it does get going its highly enjoyable, with fine performances from all the actors involved. But the real real gem of this pack is The Gunfighters, in my opinion a high class historical with humour and moderate violence but a very well written piece of work. Some western oriented stuff can be a drag but the Doctor in Tombstone isnt. Highly entertaining. ... Read More:
