If your children constantly demand Telebubbies, Bob the Builder or Thomas the Tank Engine them give them a change with a classic episode or two of Watch with Mother. I don't know whether it was the operatic singing of nursery rhymes in Andy Pandy, the incomprehensible dialogue of Bill and Ben, or the surreal plot of of Muffin the Mule but this video never fails to keep little horrors quiet for an hour or so. The best thing is that you can and sit and enjoy the episodes too!

Though obviously based on the books by Colin Dann, the story itself is heavily based on Richard Adam's "Watership Down" novel. It has obvious similarities such as the pike in the river, a clumsy water bird, and their homeland being destroyed by human building, and more. Being they're both set in the north too, there are bound to be influences anyway. Animals of Farthing Wood is simply a classic though, and I find it more enjoyable than Watership Down. It teaches children that not everything is rainbows and butterflies all the time, and animals will suffer because of the thoughtless activities of humans (though not all humans are depilated as bad, such as the Warden and the Fire-fighters). I work in a nursery with children aged 18 to 24 months and whenever the tv comes out they always ask for this video. The songs are very catchy (so parents, watch out, you'll be singing along in no time!), and it keeps the children glued to the tv for ages. Well worth the money.

We have a number of Teletubbies videos, and of course watch the occasional new episode on TV, but this is the best I have seen so far and undoubtedly is our young daughter's favourite. There is a delightful video of some young children in the rain and then a cloud comes and makes a big puddle in which all the Teletubbies get wet. This is followed by a computer animation of a parade of animals which always transfixes and delights our daughter. In fact this tape is just one delight after another - fantastic entertainment for tots from beginning to end.

We always strive to find wholesome entertainment for our kids that doesn't drive us-adults nuts through cynicism, shmaltziness, synthesized music or some bias - and this is it. An excellent collection of nursery rhymes with animation and illustration that grips kids and a quality of musical performance (vocal and instrumental) that would make a great standalone audio-CD. I never really like Isla St. Clair until I heard her on this recording but here she is excellent, Martin Carthy is brilliant and the instrumental scoring (with early music instruments) is just top-notch. I live in Portland, OR in the USA and would encourage Longman or whoever holds the rights to this material to put out both a DVD and CD to preserve this for posterity.

Milly has jst started and cackles academy and it not been the best start Miss Hardbroom is not best pleased and then Milly isn't happy as she has the stern Miss Hardbroom as form tutor her year just gets worse but the're some laughs along the this is takenn from the TV series and is nothing like the film which makes it far better it many ways. It shame the other series have made to video or DVD let hope the producers change that every fan should have the whole series and the best of the 3 series but they have left my favorite off with show the four and final book The Worst Witch Down and The Sea.
