VHS : Carry On Cruising [1962]
Carry On Cruising (1962) saw the series transferred into colour but the one thing missing from this is the large number of regulars absent from it - theres no Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims or Hattie Jaques. Yet surprisingly this does emerge as an enjoyable, entertaining entry in the long-running series. The action of course is set aboard a Mediterranean cruise liner (well actually it was all filmed at PineWood Studios) with the inept and typically incompentent crew under the strict command of the serious and uptight Captain Crowther, who is played marvelously by Sid James. Things all come to a climax when the crew plan a surprise party for the captain who is celebrating his tenth year at sea. This was Norman Hudis's last script for the series, ... Read More:

Everyone seems to rate this film highly, but it is not the best of the 'Carry On's' by far. True it probably is the most lavish, and true, it contains one of the best one liners, in the often quoted 'Infamy, Infamy, they have all got it in for me', but it truly has little else to commend it. Of the historical romps 'Carry on Henry' is funnier, but for the true classics we have to turn to 'Carry on Screaming', Carry on Camping','Carry on up the Khyber', and 'Carry on Don't Lose Your Head', all of which are vastly superior.

Are the people planning on making Carry On London totally potty ? Modernising the Carry On's by bringing in a load of new comics & actors while making things too lewd with a barrage of single - entendres did not work in 1992 and for that reason will fail in 2008 . Julian Clary , Sara Crowe , Rik Mayell , Martin Clunes , Maureen Lipman , Richard Wilson , Alexi Sayle and Nigel Planner are just not the Carry On team . They have not the skills of people like Kenneth Williams , Hattie Jacques , Joan Sims , Bernard Bresslaw , Kenneth Connor , Sid James , Charles Hawtry & Peter Butterworth needed to play this kind of comedy . The scripting is feeble as Dave Freeman is not the writer that Talbot Rothwell was and Mr Freeman was not given enough time which ... Read More:

Cracking stuff. Just watched the film, thought it was great. All the cast are on top form. Full of fun from start to finish. Kenneth Connor playing a role that suits him perfectly, being at his very best as the Major who runs the caravan site. Kenneth Williams as Crump and his female Russian(i believe thats what she is) assistant made me burst out laughing everytime i saw them together. Very cheeky in parts, but the later carry ons always were. This one is better than 'camping'. I am a big fan of 'camping' but felt it became weak in the last 20-30 minutes of the film. 'Behind' is great from start to end.

the dark days were heading for the carry on world in the year after this movie or so and some had happened previously with charles hawtrey being axed for this after his problems with alcohol,he wasnt the only one readers,he,along with hattie jacques and kenny williams are indeed absent from this one but this is still a real masterpiece of naughty postcard humour stylings all rolled into a film and the theme here centres on beauty contest which sid james, who else, organises on a seaside town to bring tourists back, hardly a bad idea but a womans liberation group led by june whitfield have other ideas in mind about that.
The film is racey and pacey enough and babs excels as miss easyt rider who fights with another contestant on a donky, surely one of the maddest scenes ... Read More:

this film isn't exactly what i would call a real classic. sure, it has all the usual actors but it doen't any humourous moments, like some of the other films in the series. The ending is just plain embarissing. it made me cringe.
watch this if you a fan.
My son adores this film, i haven't discovered why yet but i've been watching him very closely and i think that some of the scenes are a little to saturating for him to handle.

carry on loving and the year is 1970,a new ethos as i understand had creeped into a new decade,a new social train of thought had blossomed ,those who lived the 70s first hand will say that this was a great and hip time, the swinging 70s indeed and carry on loving embraced that with open arms in my humble opinion.
Carry on loving explores dating agencies, sid james and hattie jacques have a facade where they own a dating company and pretend they are man and wife when they aint, throughout the film a series of customers ask for help to find a partner and the mishaps roll out in all their glory, the cast here is brilliant again ,no babs though which is a shame as she would have enjoyed this film, nevertheless, terry scott excels as a man who wants to find a wife,he has the attitude of ... This is definately my favourite of all of the Carry On Films. It is laughter from the moment it starts.
Kenneth Williams as Stuart Farquhar is fantastic especially when Peter Butterworth as the Spanish Hotel owner says 'Stupid What? when he first introduces his name.
Joan Sims and Sid James as husband and wife are hysterical and the scene where Sid smashes through the patio window when he thinks it hasnt got any glass in it, is superb........Joan Sims laughter really makes that scene and its so contageous.
The whole supporting cast are brilliant and there really is not just one star of this film they are all great. (Lovely Bernard Breslaw as Brother Bernard and the beautiful Carol Hawkins as the girl he takes a shine to....so many others to mention, of course Barbara ... Read More:

VHS : Carry On Teacher [1959]
Carry On Teacher was the third entry into the long-running British comedy film series and was an amusing one at that. The series was well underway having enjoyed International success with its predecessor, Carry On Nurse. This is a gentle, light-hearted comedy, distinctley reminiscent of the St. Trinians series. When a headmaster of a school decides to leave for a new post, the pupils do everything to sabotage his chances because of his firm popularity with them. Two school inspectors arrive, both with diverse ideas on discipline (Rosalind Knight and Leslie Phillips) to assess Mr. Wakefields (the headmaster - played by Ted Ray) progress with the school. And so cue all the predicatble slap stick mayhem such as the staff getting hopelessly drunk after the staffs tea is laced with alcohol, doors falling down when ... Read More:
