VHS : Yankee Doodle Dandy [1942]
This is the best film ever but try as I might I can not get hold of it for region 2. If anyone knows where or how I can find this film to play on my DVD player, here in England, I would be grateful.
Same goes for "My Beautiful Son" AKA "Strange Relations" in the American market.

VHS : Doctor Who The E-Space Trilogy [1963]
The espace trilogy boasts three of the best ever Doctor Who stories, all very different in style and writing and feel. And each brilliant and imaginative.

First, there's Full Circle, with atmosphere and brilliant misty moments. Matthew Waterhouse makes his debut as Adric, and actually he isnt that bad an actor at all in my opinion. Tom Baker is serious and brilliant in this story, and Lalla is good as Romana. The atmosphere of the marsh scenes are really effective and believeable. And the marsh child is cute! A good start!!!

then theres State of Decay. A vampire story without so much blood and guts as in the trillions of Dracula movies, theres really no need for it. Doctor who hardly ever had much blood, and its the better ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The Awakening/Frontios [1963]
A well written and well produced story, this boasts one of Peter Davison's finest ever portrayals of the Doctor. here is is strong, domineering, quirky, eccentric, funny and manipulative in turns, commanding the screen and dealing with human authorities and nasty, scheming alien creatures with equal amounts of authority. Anyone who thinks davsion is not one of the best Doctors needs look no further than this story to see the emergence of a giant, ready to become an unsurpassed legend just two stories later as he visits a set of titular Caves! Watch it and savour it, it is one of the finest! The dialog alone is a treat to ears! Watch it!

VHS : On Moonlight Bay [1951]
I love this film and the sequel By The Light Of The Silvery Moon (1953) with one of my favourite actresses and singers Doris Day.

I remember as a child watching this and loving every minute of it. I am now 42 years old and was not even born when it was released but have seen it on TV many times and have copies of them on Video. My Mum got me into Doris Day with her music and films but this and its sequel are my favourites of hers and Mum's to.

It is a true family musical film about childhood, growing up, life in the early 19th Century USA.

I ordered my copy and the sequel from Amazon USA as I could not wait for it to become available on Region 2 DVD. I can now at last retire my old worn out VHS Tapes and watch them ... Read More:

VHS : Kiss Me Kate [1953]
I had been searching for this version of Kiss Me Kate for ages and finally found it. A great version of the play(Taming of the Shrew) within a play this combines comedy, dancing, singing and a wonderful score by Cole Porter. It is one of MGM's wonderful fifties musicals. Howard Keel as Fred/Petruchio is terrific & Kathryn Grayson(Lily/Kate) is no slouch either. Ann Miller & Tommy Rall as secondary leads have marvellous dance routines but the real highlight is the performance of 'Brush up your Shakespeare' by Keenan Wynn and James Whitmore as the gangsters sent to collect a debt from Fred. I have seen live performances of 'Kate' but this is the best ever.

VHS : Dracula [1957]
This is the greatest Hammer film ever made. Starring the two mainstays of British Horror Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.
Terence Fisher (the best Hammer director) directs with style and James Bernard produced a score that would be used in variations by many Hammer films over the years. For any musicians out there the chord Bernard uses to signal Dracula's presence is an augmented chord...

Christopher Lee is magnificent as Count Dracula. Bela Lugosi may have starred in the role first but Lee is vastly superior in every respect: He has more screen presence (helped by being 6' 5"), is better looking and most crucially unlike Lugosi he can act.
As Van Helsing Peter Cushing is mesmerising. Whether he is carrying out a blood transfusion or ... Read More:

VHS : The Illustrated Man [1969]
We all know that in most cases the movie is a poor reflection of the book it is based on. This is in movie about stories within a story. It is very well paced to give you a feel for what is happening and time to anticipate what may happen. Rod Steiger has time to really act instead is being a cameo. The stories are naturally imaginative. The sets are well designed to bring out the nuances and display the implications of the character's actions. In all this is a very well designed movie for 1969.

A man is encountered who has skin Illustrations all over his body. Each illustration represents a tale from the future. The illustrations come to life and tell a tale of doom or impending doom. In this way ray Bradbury can tell related but different tales in this book. Its Bradbury's ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The War Machines [1966]
I think I'm right in saying this is one of the first stories to be completely based on contemporary Earth and to benefit from the 'Yeti in the Loos at Tooting Bec' effect. It's atmospheric and very creepy to watch the War Machines trundle through the streets of London controlled by a super Computer in the then newly opened Post Office Tower. I suppose it was written to touch on the fears of where computerisation would lead and it does scare. It also is the story that introduces the sailor, Ben and the resourceful Polly who are both fun believable characters and an improvement on Dodo who feels very wooden. There are lighter bits, such as a policeman trying to go into the TARDIS thinking it's a real police box until he sees an out of order sign, and William Hartnell seems to be enjoying himself. ...
