VHS : Rosemary Conley's New Body By Design [1996]
I've had this video for about 5 years now and I always keep coming back to use it again. The video is made up of six sections focusing on hips & thighs, lower body, upper body, abs, arms and back. I love the fact that each section has its own warm-up and because each section is only 10 minutes long, it means I can fit in a section whenever I have the time. Although the exercises are fairly simple, they are definately effective and help me lose a couple of pounds whenever I need to. I would recommend this video to everyone as it really helps tone the body!

As someone who doesn't want to focus on just toning or just aerobics I found this video perfect! Separated into easily digestible short sections, you get to cover toning on major body parts (ie legs, bums, tums) mixed in with energising aerobics sessions. The fact that it is taken in turns between toning and aerobics this video is very interesting and keeps you motivated. The beautiful scenery and uplifting music makes this an ideal work out to do in the comfort of your own home!

VHS : Callanetics - AM/PM [1981]
This is 2 complete 20 minute workouts, and it's the gentlest of the available Callanetics videos. It makes an excellent introduction to this unique method, and good for people with not much time to spare.
Another added benefit (and this is especially true in the P.M. section), is that it's wonderfully soothing, and if you're feeling anxious or stressed, Callan's soft and gentle voice, guiding you through these slow motions, will help release any tension, and calm the nerves.
If you're the type that needs a lot of "bounce and flash" to get you motivated, Callanetics is not for you...this is indeed "meditation in motion"...the exercises can be very difficult if done correctly, but everything is done quietly and in "triple slow motion".

Forget about all these celebrity 'one hit wonders' that hit the stores every New Year. This, and Jenny's other tape - 'Figure Happy' - are the only exercise programmes you will ever need. Alternate them, and you will work every single muscle in your body. It really is like having Jenny in your own home with you. Just do the routines a couple of times, and you will suddenly get the hang of them - it is brilliant when you do.

I lost one and a half stone in two months, by eating a correct diet and doing these routines three times a week.

I just wish they would bring these out on DVD!! I live in fear of the tape getting caught in the machine it has been played so many times.

Nell McAndrew's Peak Energy [2002]

This was my first Nell workout dvd. I absolutely love it. I usually put this dvd on when I want a full workout when I can't get to the gym. People usually complain about the movements in the cardio being boring but for me who is pushed for space its perfect because you don't have to move off the spot. I think you need to alternate this dvd with others because it does get tedious doing the same workout all the time. But that works for all exercise dvds I suppose.

This isn't a dvd for beginners because it is far too demanding and that would just be no good for motivation. Also the instructor doesn't really explain things well so beginners could hurt themselves if they do the exercise wrong. However ... Read More:

Ok, so I wobbled a lot but this video really is quite good! It's not too fast and goes at just the right pace. It does take a bit of practice though. It's nice to see such normal people doing it too and no whooping! You do feel a benefit too as my body is aching from it. The presenter is good at what she does and explains it in a non patronising but clear way. Overall it was a good buy.

VHS : Rosemary Conley's Ultimate Whole Body Workout
there are loads of Rosemary Conley DVDs - this is apparently very similar to some of her others but I would recommend this one if you are new to DVD exercise as it's a good way to try and see if the format suits you.
I found it easy to keep doing without getting bored, and having 3 levels of intensity to follow is useful.

Best points - the great soundtrack which is all original artists, the exercises are in time to th music, and it doesn't get boring on repetition.
Worst points - the "motivating" blurble about how much weight each of her "team" has lost on her diet. OK for the first few viewings, a bit grating by viewing number 10. And Rosemary, dude, it's not all about weight!!
