VHS : The Shape Challenge
I liked this video (I have it on VHS). I really enjoyed the whole thing and thought the warm up and cool downs were partiularly good - really going through everything carefully. I really liked Libby Roberts and found her to be friendly and informative. I have done the Jane fonda abs, bums and thighs video and a lot of the moves are identical to this one (this one came out first!) but this is much better! It is quite dated but I don't mind - the exercises still do the same thing!

VHS : Diane Youdale's Dance Aerobics [1999]
This video is a good aerobic workout, but calling it dance is a bit misleading, as not much of it is very 'dancey'.
The sound quality isn't very good, and I often can't hear what the instructors are saying, because of the music. At one point during the warm-up they seem to be having a chat and laughing at something, which the viewer can't hear because of the poor sound quality.
The actual workout is quite good, and is designed for both beginner and advanced - you watch Diane Youdale for the Easy version, Helen Carpenter-Waters for the more difficult. All in all though I'd only give it 3 stars.

VHS : Paul McKenna - New Hypnotherapy Series - Motivation Power
I bought this video to help me revise for my finals as I find it really hard to get into revision and usually don't do myself justice in exams as a result. I actually wanted the Accelerated Learning video but this was cheaper! The first half of the video introduces techniques to change your mindset and help you to focus your goals. It gets a bit boring watching it repeatedly and it is a bit cheesy but I do think it is time well spent, as I have found with his cds too that the hypnosis by itself is not as effective. I really did feel that watching the video every day helped me to remember how important it was for me to do well which would make me want to revise.
The downsides are that it is a pain to watch the same thing every day but as you ... Read More:

VHS : Art Of Swimming - The Shaw Method
this is an excellent video - teaches you really relaxing swimming techniques, concentrating on good posture, which despite my bad neck/back problems has really improved my front crawl and the resulting exercise improved my overall back/neck condition and general fitness. Clearly demonstrates front crawl/backstroke and breaststroke. highly recomended!

VHS : Paul McKenna - New Hypnotherapy Series - Eliminate Stress
I'm always one for buying books / magazines to learn new methods of de-stressing but they always tell you the same old thing - get plenty of sleep, take time out for yourself etc etc. These methods are all well and good, but personally I give up after about one week. Paul McKenna's video offers different and very simple techniques for de-stressing which really work through practise. I was rather sceptical before watching the video but all the exercises help you to really focus your mind on not only relaxing, but positive thinking and anything else you might like to focus on. It's so easy and the techniqes can be used throughout the day - you don't have to take the time out to have a relaxing hot bath every 5 minutes!

The trance section was unbelievably ... Read More:

VHS : Kathy Smith - Fat Burning Workout [1991]
When I first did this vid I was afraid that it seemed at little too easy for my liking. The aerobics didn't seem to challenge me at all. But by the end of the vid I had actually worked up a good sweat.
The aerobics get harder the longer the video lasts and combined with the great toning movements this really is a great workout vid.
Kathy Smith, who usually tends to annoy me, actually seems like a normal a calm instructor on this vid.
This is a nice and relaxing subsitute to high impact aerobic vids.

69.Denise Austin-Super Stomach starring: Denise Austin

VHS : Denise Austin-Super Stomach
I have been using "Super stomachs" since I first purchased the tape in Australia in 1995. Denise Austin is virtually unkown in the UK but deserves much recognition for her superb exercise videos. This is a low impact way to a flatter, toned stomach that also takes care of your back. One of the best things about the workout is that it takes up as much of your lounge floor space as the length of your body, and is only 30 minutes long meaning you have ample opportunity to fit it in to some part of your day. The exercises themselves are simple but effective and don't leave you gasping for breath as you can do them at your own level and build yourself up over a period of time. An excellent and simple way of toning your stomach, bottom and thighs and of strengthening ... Read More:

VHS : Penny Lancaster's Ultimate Body Workout
This was a disappointing workout for me because I am quite physically fit and it was too easy. Good for those new to exercise or when you're feeling tired and want to do something. Easy to follow and relaxed style of presentation (if a little wooden). It takes you through a warm up and then another one?????? Just getting your heart rate up and then you stop. A real mixture of plus and negative points. Good abs section.
