VHS : Red Dragon [2002]
This is an entertaining enough effort, but cashes in too strongly on The Silence of the Lambs. Hopkins is good as usual, and Edward Norton is particularly good, but the rest feels a little contrived. Not enough of this gels, and it doesn't have the same unsettling vibe as "Manhunter."

Still worth seeing for some good bits, though.

VHS : 24 - Season 1 [2002]
Well for quite a while i have seen 24 all over the tv but i dared not watch it incase it ruined the whole show even though i had no plans to watch it.

Soon enough i stumbled across the season 1 dvd and took the dip of buying it and i loved it. It was so addicting that when i got it in the post, i popped the disc in the player quickly to see a bit of the first episode.

My name is ******* ****** and this was the longest day of my life!

The sofa had a few dents in it once i finished watching it all in one go i was ready to die i was so tired (don't know how the people on the show do it!) but what a great series. Sure parts of the plot may be un-realistic but you do have to take into account that it still is ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who - The Daleks (Limited Edition tin: The Chase[1965]/Remembrance of the Daleks[1988])
This tin set was released as part of Doctor Who's 30th anniversary celebration. It contains two stories featuring the Doctor's most popular enemies. The first of these, `The Chase' comes from Wlliam Hartnell's time as the Doctor. I'm afraid that I find it to be the weakest of all the Dalek stories. The Daleks create their own time machine and pursue the time travellers through time and space, seeking to `Exterminate' them! This pursuit takes them to places such as the Empire State Building and the Marie Celeste! It just seems to be nothing more than a run-around with little plot. It only gets mildly interesting by the time we get to the sixth episode and encounter the Mechanoids. It is also worth noting that this is the story where we say goodbye ... Read More:

VHS : Suicide Kings (1997)
A strange film because it sounds really too simple and easy to kidnap a maffia king. Apart from that the rest is interesting. The strategy used by the kids is amateurish and silly. The maffia king gets information he should not get but the kids don't know how to monitor communication with such professional outlaws. And then the maffia king plays with them as if they were so many mice and they are mice. Of course the head of the adventure could not be a man. It was too complex in the details and the security of the plot was based on too many layers of distanciated information among the band of apprentice criminals for the brain to be male. So the maffia king manages to talk them into freeing him, though he has to put two million dollars on the table. But within ... Read More:

VHS : House Of 1000 Corpses [2003]
I watched this film the other day, the 4th time I have seen it and it just gets better and better every time! Rob Zombie is a breath of fresh air in the Horror genre but having been a fan of his musical talents in both White Zombie and his solo material I was confident that his transition to directing horror would work, I dont agree with those who say the movie rips off Texas Chainsaw Massacre, there are elements of it in this film but I feel it only borrows slightly and on the whole is pretty original. The Firefly family are awesome, they are humourus and disturbing a perfect combination, in particular Captain Spalding and Otis are stand out and can be right up there with other classic horror charactors! The movie moves at a fast pace and the combination of old TV/film clips mixed ... Read More:

The acting, atmosphere and unsentimental approach to this film (from a very fine book) make this a pleasure to watch. Both moving and plausible.

Highly recommended.
