VHS : Chicago [2003]
My favorite Academy Award winning Best Picture of the decade thus far, Chicago is a cinematic extravaganza that comes along only once in a long, long time. Richard Gere, Renee Zellweger, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Queen Latifah, Christine Baranski, John C. Reilly and others explode on screen with music, talent and heaps of fun, in a sarcastic and very ironic look at show business, fame, crime and the thin line that runs between them.

When you come to think about it, the plot is OK, but what really makes this musical light up with fire and passion are the singing bits carried out by the talented cast. Come to think of it, I've only seen the film 4-5 times, but I've heard the soundtrack 20 or 30 times more than that, and it keeps getting ... Read More:

And this second series is testiment to this fact. It sees the gang in "La La Land" as Hannah from the group calls it, trying to make themselves famous yet again and getting nowhere at the same time. The acting is much better this time round, the storylines are a lot better but not only that, the punchlines are even more hilarious, my favourite being from the episode "Fall Out"...

TINA (to Jon): I'm not talking to you!
JON (to Tina): Well I'm not talking to you
*continues with Paul & Hannah, and Brad and Jo, until it gets to Rachel...*
RACHEL: I haven't got anyone to not talk to!

I recommend the second series to you highly if you own the first- you'll love this just as much!

VHS : Silk Stockings [1957]
There are a number of good things about Silk Stockings, but there also is a professional finality about the movie that makes it easier to observe than to be delighted by it. It was one of the last of the big MGM musicals coming from Arthur Freed's production unit. It was the last musical Fred Astaire made as the lead. It was the last film directed by Rouben Mamoulian. It was based on the last Broadway musical Cole Porter wrote. Silk Stockings also was used to make a statement about the excesses some thought were ruining films and music...the advent of rock and roll and the technological changes in films with wide screen and stereo sound. It even takes a crack at the fashion for ballet in many musicals. You've got to be very clever and original to successfully ... Read More:

VHS : Kiss - Unplugged [1996]
This colaboration of the founding 4 members was sheerly breathtaking, as they put the old feuds behind them and played some fantastic and magical songs. It was like being back in the good old days of KISS, when the music meant more than the fame, the money, and of course the girls. They played for their love, and it is a must have for any KISS fan, no matter how die-hard as it was a one off occasion of sheer magnificance. The actual playing was outstanding too as they played as if they had been together for years (as in the last few, not the original years they were together), so please buy this if you have any love for music at all, because it is amazing and a piece of history that every person should have in their collection.

this is,in my own opinion, the best who video you can buy.it shows mostly previously unreleased performances from the early 60`s,up until the tommy tour of 89.also included is some up to date dialouge with pete, rogerand john.but, the main selling point is the must see performances of the greatest band in creation.especially worth noting is the fact the bbc still have the mastertape of the performance from charlton football groundfrom 1974(from which there is a couple of tracks here)which,is crying out to be given a release. if your a who fan or not this is an edition to add to your collection, along with the tie-in 4 disc box set.........martin davies

Memory told me this was a dissappointment, many criticise Geldorf's performance - well what else was he supposed to do except act like a screwed up depressed individual, which I think he did well (no offence Bob - I'm backing you on this). I really enjoyed this film after a break of numerous years, some excellent moments visually and aurally, well packaged, and the soundtrack is to dream for - wonderful sound. I found this a satisfying disc and probably now prefer it to the CD. One gripe - the repackaging suggests that the Limited Edition disc is an improvement on the standard version, it isn't ! They seem to me exactly the same - but the packaging in the Limited Edition is much superior and just about justifies buying it.

VHS : The Sonny And Cher Story - And The Beat Goes On...
Although the actors were very much look alikes f the famous duo,the story had to many holes and very much incorrect info. Why didn't they include Cher's first song Ringo I LOve You or Caesar and Cleo's stuff. It was said that Sonny screwed his secretary during GOOD TIMES not during Chastity, that is when Cher became pregnant.Mary Bono,Sonny's widow, done a botched up job.My script accounts more authentic story .Still i wished they didnt make Cher a baddie, like she was ungrateful.Sonny was very controlling,Cher liked it at first. He wated her to be 16 and she was a woman with her ownthoughts.Where was Cher's hits in the midst of the film?
