VHS : Jesus Christ Superstar [1973]
This is a very, very good, beautifully told, yet slightly tongue-in-cheek, musical version of the story of J.C.

There are some superb songs in this movie, which -- if you just go with the style --are very moving, funny, dramatic and exciting in places. In short, if you just let it be what it is, this movie is very entertaining.

Three things to remember however:
1) This was made in the 70's!!!!! Don't expect it to be fabulously produced (think Monty Python's - Life of Brian meets Spartacus/Moses - Man of God and you're about there).

2) It is _supposed_ to be slightly tongue-in-cheek. You should enjoy that aspect about this movie (and not dislike it for it). The movie is _purposefully_ funny/ridiculous/controversial ... Read More:

VHS : Robbie Williams - Live In Your Living Room [2001]
Angels is supposed to be Robbie's best song, but doesn't it sound alot like Bon Jovi. I can just imagine John singing "I'm luuuuuurvin' angels instead!" But Robbie's different, he's a real character. One thing though, is that in this and many of his other videos, Robbie looks disapprovingly at his male member. But don't worry girls, he's only being ironic. Or is he? Remember that most self styled 'characters' are impotent. I'm sure Bon Jovi doesn't have that problem

This has to be the best film Elvis ever made. From the opening scene with Elvis singing "Crawfish" to the very end, this film rocks! Elvis shows great acting talent, sings great songs and the storyline is strong. If you only buy one Elvis film, this should be it.I've watched it half-a-dozen times and my wife over 40 times. The story is of Danny rebelling against the direction his parents would like him to take, falling for the right girl and then the wrong girl with a little fisticuffs along the way.Recommended fun for all ages.Buy it and enjoy.

VHS : David Oistrakh - Artist Of The People? [1999]
This documentary offers just sufficient extracts from Oistrakh's playing to encourage one to go to the many audio recordings available so that you can hear just what a wonderful musician he was. The commentaries by Oistrakh's son, Igor, and his friends and fellow musicians, including Menuhin, Rozhdestvensky and Rostropovich, demonstrate that, despite his tacit support for the Soviet regime (which he believed had given him the opportunity to develop his talent) Oistrakh was a deeply sincere and lovable man, and a musician of genius.

VHS : So Close - The Videos [1993]
I admire woman who can hold there own and this film says it all. While watching this I couldn't help but to think of Charlies Angels plus the opening scene with Lynn easily marks out the style of this film. "So Close" revolves around a computer program that can hack all the security cameras on earth. Developed by their dad, the program was inherited by Shu Qi and Vicky Zhao after his death, and rather than sell it and make lots of money, they use it to become career assassins - follow your dreams! But after years of busting caps, Shu Qi has become a hurting-on-the-inside kind of lady. Her passion for being a super cool hit woman has cooled and she's starting to feel sorry for the thousands of people she took away. Unable to bring herself to do more than kneecap the legions of goons ... Read More:

197.The Marriage of Figaro [1973] starring: Kiri Te Kanawa, Frederica Von Stade, Ileana Cotrubas

VHS : The Marriage of Figaro [1973]
This version of The Marriage of Figaro will make the opera available for the appreciation of the average person in the street. English is used throughout with spoken dialogue.

Both the singing and dialogue are well articulated and one should have no difficulty in understanding what is being spoken or sung.

The performance is excellent and well produced.

In places it is a little vulgar, but then so was Motzart, and overall very funny. It belongs in the same category as the Whitehall farces but with the inclusion of some first class music.

In general this is a version not to be missed by any one other than those who feel that the operatic medium should be kept out of reach of the average person.

Worth a watch if you like films about dancing. Little predictable but the dance sequences are great. Vanessa Williams is a little bit cheesey but dont let that put you off.
