VHS : The Phantom Of The Opera [2004]
Only the hardest heart, or the least feeling of people would not shed a tear at Phantom of the Opera. One of the most beautiful and yet saddest of stories ever told. This is a good production. Not as good as being at Her Majesty's in the west end of London, but very good all the same. The story takes you to a place many of us have been, to a place of love and lust, of shattered dreams and broken hearts. A place where your heart strings are played and a love song sung with exquisite emotion.
Cuddle up with your loved one, share a bottle of wine and a tear or two, and appreciate the good things you have in life, and possibly / secretly ponder those lost and left behind.
Crying is not just for sissy's, it's a good and healthy release. I love this ... Read More:

Amazing film.Elvis may look pale but he is on top form here as are the TCB band. They all really let go and the result is pure 70s Rock.Check out Polk Salad Annie,Proud Mary, the Karate sequence,Ron Tutts awesome drumming,Jerry Sheffs thunderous bass lines and Elvis' incredible vocal power. He's more powerful vocally here than in Aloha and much more relaxed.Other standout performances include Bridge Over Troubled Water,Mountain, the Stamps singing Sweet Sweet Spirit and of course American Trilogy.

Eventhough this show is the winner of "The Best Live Act- MTV Europe Awards 1995", I think it's not an outstanding performance. Gary, Jason, Mark and Howard are not at all to blame for that though. They're very energetic, as usual, and the choreography is once again of a very high quality. However, sometimes it seems as though the microphones are not of the best quality. The voices do not come out very clear, sometimes making it hard to hear what the boys have to say. After a while you get used to it though and you'll find the performance very good. However, there is definitely something missing, or rather, someone... Robbie Williams. The show misses his strong voice and witty remarks. Songs like Everything Changes, although very well covered by Gary, Mark, Jason ... Read More:

Get this at once, since it has not been released on DVD, and I doubt if it ever will.
Playground Twist, Staircase Mystery and Red Light are not featured on "The Best of" and that's why all Siouxsie fans should get this!!!

A truly wonderful interpretation of the timeless classic. Every bit as stunning as seeing it live. Probably not one for the children, so if you are looking for that seek out a more traditional production.

It is witty, excellently crafted and moving. A world wide phenomenon and and instant classic. It is difficult for a DVD to truly capture the magic of a live performance, but this does an admirable job.

Essential viewing for all of the Billy Elliot's out there!

Like Simono I too was disappointed by the Cinemascope. In fact we did not bother watching it as it only took up the centre third of the television screen.

Same with DVD of Guys and Dolls, like looking through a letter box. Did not watch that either.

Amazon should point out the significance of Cinemascope. We cannot be the only people to suffer with this.
