VHS : Doctor Who - The Five Doctors [1983]
This episode is one of those rare occasions where the then current doctor meets his previous selves. This time its Peter Davison(the 5th doctor)meeting with his other selves.Sadly William Hartnell (the 1st doctor)had passed away by the time this was made,so another actor takes his place. He is no Hartnell, but is adequate .Patrick Troughton(the 2nd doctor)and Jon pertwee reprise their roles with aplomb. The Brigadier puts in an appearance and is his usual self.Unfortunately Tom Baker-the 4th,and best doctor-is only in it for 2 minutes, and doesnt get to meet any of his alter egos.He would have made this episode even better. There is very little plot here, but there are some great scenes involving the daleks, the cybermen, the master and of course, the ... VHS : Doctor Who - The Tom Baker Years [1992]
I know its on VHS but this is still well worth getting.

Filmed in the 90's when as I recall Tom Baker was in a show called Medics, and he is dressed like a Medical Consultant, no scarf or floppy hat.

The premise unlike the other Doctor Who Years tapes is that as all of Tom's stories exist, he is shown a series of clips in transmission order and comments in his own style.

Watch as he howls with laughter, recalls odd stories, realises some of them are quite good and worth watching again and have no idea what's going on.

It's brilliant and has not as yet been released on DVD, if it ever will.

After reading some of the reviews on this site I wasn't too sure about purchasing this title but I am pleased I did! This has to be one of the very best Doctor Who stories ever! Fantastic acting and direction make this a must for any fan. The twists and turns in the story and the shocking ending are superbly handled and I would recommend this to anyone, even if you are not a regular viewer. Now if only the BBC still made quality programmes like this...

There's nothing wrong with the content of the tape, and at the time it was originally released it was the only way to see any of the material, but the majority of it has now been released in it's complete form and those episodes which are in black and white on this tape have been recoloured by the restoration team and released. I've only given it it's one star for Jon Pertwee (despite the fact that he is very obviously reading from an autocue) and his one or two stories from his time on the show. A real shame they didn't us the Tom Baker years format on this tape while there was still time.

By now you probably know if you like the x-files or not, if you haven't seen it yet then start at season one (logically). Season three was when Carter 'took it up a notch', there is more emphasis on the governments dodgy dealings and their connection to an alien conspiracy, this storyline carries throughout all nine seasons (and a film) and has a lot of roots in season 3.

There is a fair number of stand alone episodes to boot, but I found myself wishing more and more for the ongoing storyline about Mulder and his attempts to find the truth, but that's my preference. I'd probably give most of the seasons 5 stars, they do decline a bit around season seven, but essentially I find the X-files more enjoyable, thrilling and spooky than any film I've ever ... VHS : Doctor Who - K9 And Company [1981]
When I first bought this and watched it, with the vaguest childhood recollections of it, from its first tv screening in 1981, I was a bit disappointed, and found it rather crummy.
However, over the past few years I've found myself watching it again and again, and have grown more fond of it with each viewing. It's full of sparkling gems. Once you get past the incredibly silly, but touchingly Eighties opening titles, the story really takes off, with a rather dramatic and effective opening scene of demonic worship and blazing cauldrons.
There are some rather corny West Country accents in it, and a lot of darting eyes, reminiscent of 'Five Go Mad in Dorset', although Gillian Martell is nowhere near as amusing as Robbie Coltrane in drag.
I'd say it's ... Read More:

VHS : Invasion Of The Body Snatchers [1956]

Definitely one of the most exciting sci-fi movies ever made!

This is one of those movies that can be watched over and over again and still be enthralling - no re-make could ever match this original, starring Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter.

Huge seed pods arrive from outer space that 'hatch' and take on the form of 'imageless' human bodies. As soon as the nearest person falls asleep, 'it' becomes that person - exactly the same in every way, but without emotion. A Doctor and his girl put up a tremendous fight against this phenomenon, and this film is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end!

Great stuff!

VHS : Doctor Who - Kinda [1982]
Written by Buddhist Christopher Bailey, Kinda is one of the most interesting stories of the fifth Doctor era. It is steeped in ideas concerning culture, how different races react to each other, and how people become frightened of ideals they can not understand. Clearly as well the story is also influenced by historical events, the arrival of explorers in the third worlds.
In this case an Earth expedition force is sent to a tropical Planet to report on whether the Planet is fit to colonise. However the crew gradually become unhinged by the influence of the Planets natives, and the evil snake The Mara which also affects the mind of regular companion Tegan.
At this stage in the programmes history, the series had three regular companions travelling with The Doctor. ... Read More:
