VHS : Falling For A Dancer [1998]
I love this DVD and it is definitely my most watched drama. I hold it on a pedestal along with the BBC "Pride and Prejudice" drama. My teenage daughters were even won over by the series despite listening to me drone on about it for a few years before they watched it! And that was no mean feat!

I have posted a short review of the novel on this site, but actually it was the DVD that I watched first and this inspired me to read the book. I actually prefer the slight alteration to the story as featured on the DVD (with author approval). I cannot recommend the DVD or book enough.

VHS : Doctor Who - Time And The Rani
I dont agree with the views of many people about this GREAT story. I will list all the great things about it below:

Sylv McCoy: His debut as the Doctor is strong and really different from any of his predecessore. He really feels and comes across as really enjoying the role, and is full of enthusiasm for the role. He really does impress on this his first outing as one of the best incarnations of the time lord actually.

Kate O Mara: If anyone had to pretend to be the Doctors companion, no one else could have done it with the finesse that Kate O Mara does it with as the Rani in this story. Yes, and she is even stronger than in her debut and even seems to look younger! Shes really quite good looking.

VHS : The Second World War In Colour [1999]
As a history teacher it is wonderful to see the war brought back to colour, as many of us knew it had been. The pictures and films breath a fresh sense of place to the events of World War Two and the diary and letter extracts provide a fitting support for the images. The late great John Thaw's expert narration allows the images to speak for themselves. A definiate must have, for anyone with an interest of the period.

VHS : Doctor Who - The Movie [1996]
Doctor Who - The Movie [1996] [1963] This is perhaps one of the most underated DVD's in the whole Doctor Who series both new and classic. The main problem is the bad guy or more specifically the actor who portrays him, Eric Roberts is a great bad guy in lots of B'Movies but just wasn't right for this film (his choice was forced on the writers/director due to pressure from the american backers). On the whole though the film is a great little jaunt, the interior of the TARDIS is fantastic and McGann plays the role fantastically. idea for the future (McCoy, McGann, Eccleston and Tennant) The Four Doctors

Well fellow Doctor fans, it's all there. The crashing synthesisers. The maniacal laughter. The bad sets. The corridors. The plot twists. The Master. The Daleks. The drama. The tension! This little effort is a gem that the Doctor would wear proudly, and better still its all in a good cause. A loving satire that will have every true fan rolling on the floor. A magnificent tribute to a genre that will hopefully never die...I won't spoil it by telling you the end, but let me just say that Joanna Lumley gets my vote. As for the rest of the tape, its devoted to Doctor sketches by other greats of British comedy, and its just as good. French and Saunders were clearly connoisseurs. Highly recommended.

VHS : Sex And The City - Series 1 [1999]
The first season of "Sex and the City" is full of great moments. It's a true must-have for any fan of the show because it introduces each of the characters, and sets up thier various storylines in a way not seen in later seasons. It's also really interesting to see how the programme has changed from this first season to the last. I also found that alot of the episodes were brand new to me because this season is so rarely broadcast on television.

The problem with this DVD Boxset is that the video quality isn't what it should be. The video has been ported directly from it's original American NTSC format and unfortunatley it has a very grainy quality to it. This is the only real problem with the DVD boxset and it's a shame that the publishers did not make ... Read More:
