VHS : Doctor Who - The Day Of The Daleks [1972]
The ninth season of Doctor Who opened with a group of guerillas from earth in the twenty-third century, travelling back three hundred years in time. Their mission is to assassinate a British diplomat and sabotage a peace process. They believe that by doing so, they can prevent a great terror in the future.
The Daleks return to Doctor Who after a five year absence. This is an enjoyable, if not classic, adventure from Pertwee's era. Pertwee and the regulars are all on fine form. A special mention must go to Aubrey Woods for a memorable strong performance as the Controller in the future earth, who must wrestle with his conscience. This was also the story which introduced the brutal Ogrons.
There are some disappointments. The ... Read More:

This is the collector's edition and I suggest you get it while you can, as they only sold them up til Christmas Eve of '97, which should make them quite valuable!
And I know because I almost wasn't able to grab one, so get one off Amazon now, keep it for a few years and hope it becomes more valuable in a few years!!

I was very fortunate in being able to view "Out on a Limb" whilst visiting Germany earlier this year, on a spiritual visit to see Mother Meera. I found the story absolutely amazing and it gives an insight into things we don't understand and which a lot of people refus to accept. You need an open mind to view this film.

This box set is probably the best becsause it contains classic episodes like 'Doppelgangland', 'Earshot', 'Enemies' and 'Graduation Day Part 2'. Season Three was a classic season and the second part was the best; everything was good...Angel featured, Willow was going out with Oz, Faith was wreaking havoc and the terrific baddie The Mayor was getting ready for his Ascension. We love How Things Used To Be!

This used to be my favourite. I went to see it at a cinema in the 70s, when it was distinctly arthouse. Times change, though. Now the racism grates too much. When it was made I'm sure it was meant to be radical. Rick saying he does not sell human beings when offered a price for Sam might have been cutting edge in '42. Not now.

It does not matter how captivating Ms Bergman is, I cannot see past her using that American racist insult, 'boy'.

Sam, of course, does not even have two dimensions to his character.

Into my heart an air that kills

From yon far country blows:

What are those blue remembered hills,

What spires, what farms are those?

That is the Land of Lost Content,

I see it shining plain,

The happy highways where I went,

And cannot come again........

VHS : Harry Enfield And Chums 1997 [1994]
This video is very funny indeed as it contains nearly one hundred minutes of top comedy. Among the many highlights of this video are Wayne and Waynetta winning the lottery, Lee and Lance's song, the homeophobic dad, the Scousers in Spain, Kevin going to a party and the Toddlers painting together. Nearly every perfect sketch on this video is funny! Harry Enfield uses super characters with excellent catch phrases. 'I'm not your slave?' 'Calm down, calm down' and 'You don't wanna do it like that.' The one fault with this show is you can't really watch it more than twice without becoming slightly bored. Still great while it lasts.

VHS : Jerry Sadowitz - Live In Concert - The Total Abuse Show [1988]
When the whole world wakes up one Monday morning and finally realizes that political correctness is the new fascism Mr. Sadowitz will be at the front of the mob howling for its blood.

This video is (to my knowledge) the only purchasable offering of Jerry live on stage and although some of the material may now seem dated it is a true showcase for a unique comic talent.

This is savage comedy interspersed with a little magic, a merciless attack on all races, creeds and social backgrounds and totally without remorse. See if you can spot the scene where the camera man hastily whips the camera away after Jerry takes out his P**is, slips a clowns red nose on the end and, after vigorous jerking, declares "How's about that for comic relief"

VHS : The Quiet Man [1952]
This St. Patrick’s Day my wife and I decided to build a fire and enjoy this Irish classic. The music, the scenery, the story line and the dialogue ensure its enduring status.

A real test of a work of art is whether the viewer keeps finding something new in it time after time. “The Quiet Man “ meets this test. This time I was impressed by the cultural tension between the Americanism of Sean Thornton (John Wayne) and the Irishness of the other characters, something which I had not picked up on so keenly in past viewings.

Whether you are ready for your first or fiftieth viewing, “The Quiet Man” will always be a treat.
