VHS : Testament Of Youth [1979]
The main reason why I took to this 1979 BBC Drama Series was its emontional power. Cheryl Campbell is excellent, and flawless as Vera Brittain, and hardly puts a foot wrong. Watching this series again has made me realise how much of an impact it has made. It makes you feel that you're sharing the journey of life with her. You know what she's going through, what she's feeling, and in most of the scenes, you're relating to her, especially the death scenes, and the ghosts of those around her who went to war, and died plays an important role in the proceedings. This programme is also relevant to the Iraq war, and to those who have lost loved ones in subsequent wars that followed after the First World War. This programme should also serve as a warning ... I don't really see what's wrong with this story. Everyone I've met and asked seems to like it, but most reviews on the internet always give it a bad one. The 'sink set' is very good effects wise, but some of the other things aren't... but so what? What makes it good is it is just very simple- the Doctor and his companions wandering round discovering deadly traps. Worth the money, so buy it!

I agree with the last reviewer. This is a series which I made a point of watching. The faultless cast includes a young Ewan McGregor and the excellent Roy Hudd. It must be over 10 years since I've seen it and I'd like to watch it again. Shame there is no DVD release as yet.

If, like me, you're over 40, then this will appeal as you titter at the 'big' hairstyles, fluorescent leotards, leggings, sweatbands and gorgeously camp male class members. Then there's terminally perky Laurel, who is so energetic and enthusiatic, she looks as if she appears courtesy of the local crack den and you'll certainly tone your buttocks (through embarrassed clenching) as she introduces classmate Jeannie - "Meet my girlfriend Jeannie - now she's your girlfriend too!" My children literally keel over with laughter at this, but I love it! All joking aside, this is a good (if slightly complex - but practice makes perfect) workout, that feels more like a dance class. There's no toning/crunches/proper cooldown stretch section, but it certainly gets your ... Read More:

VHS : Doctor Who: Revenge of the Cybermen [1963]
I will confess that this story is not as good as I thought it would be but as time passes it does grow on me.

The cybermen themselves are back on track after their underused performance in 'The Invasion' and are seen to be a lot more cunning and manipulative. E.g. using human greed to aquire the services of a human agent. However I am disapointed that they don't have much involvement in the story until episode 3 but their performance makes up for that.

Tom Baker is excellent as the Doctor, as usual. His banter with the Cyberleader during episode three is a mixture of seriousness and silliness and thats what makes it so good.

Companions Harry and Sarah are seen to have their own mini adventure in this story trying to avoid ... Read More:

VHS : Winnie The Pooh : Sing A Song With Pooh Bear
My 17-month old is completely mad about this video. As soon as he hears the title tune he jumps up and starts dancing around the room and points at all his favourite characters on the screen. And having the words printed on the screen means that Mum and Dad can learn the words and sing-along too!!!

My only complaint about this video is that the songs stick in your head and I find myself waking up in the morning singing "I'm so rumbly, in my tumbly, hum-de-dum-dum-dum" !!!!!!

It's well worth buying and it's a shame there are not more Winnie the Pooh Sing along videos.

William has a pair of magic red wellingtons and can magic himself and his dog, Barksure, into all sorts of adventures. Catchy theme tune, nice short episodes so no time for boredom, and packed with innocent fun. Shame that William isn't on mainstream tv any more or on DVD.

VHS : Doctor Who - The Ribos Operation [1978]
This is the first, and arguably, the best of the Key to Time series of Doctor Who. In it, the Doctor, K-9 and new assistant Romana are sent to the primitive planet Ribos, in order to obtain the first segment of the Key to Time - an all-powerful device which holds the universe in equilibrium. On their way they encounter the con-man Garron and his sidekick Unstoff, who are attempting to decieve the villainous Graf into buying a whole planet.
Tom Baker is now into his fifth series as the fourth Doctor and gives an excellent performance. Iain Cuthbertson is superb as the likeable rogue Garron, while the Graf is a truly menacing villain. A special mention must go to Mary Tamm in her first appearance as Romana Mark 1. She makes a strong, memorable debut as the straight ... Read More:
