As a playwright, Tennessee Williams was to the South what William Faulkner was as a fiction writer: a creative genius who revolutionized not only the region's arts scene and literature but that of 20th century America as a whole, bringing a Southern voice to the forefront while addressing universally important themes, and influencing and inspiring generations of later writers.

Pulitzer-Prize-winning "A Streetcar Named Desire" dates from the peak of Williams's creativity, the period between 1944 ("A Glass Menagerie") and 1955 ("Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," his second Pulitzer-winner). After its successful 1947 run on Broadway, "Streetcar" was adapted into a screenplay by Williams himself for this movie produced and directed by Elia Kazan, ... Read More:

VHS : Oliver And Company (Disney) [1989]
This film was a childhood favourite of mine and now that I'm 19 and still a Disney fan, I thought I'd give it another try and still I thoroughly enjoyed it. But Oliver and Company is by no means flawless. The music and humour are both very good and the characters are as cute and loveable as you'd expect from Disney. But at times this film does attempt to slightly overstep limits with some darker moments, and it's also a rare occasion where a movie being fast paced is actually a bad thing, as the film is only 70 minutes long and goes by in no time. But still a good film for all the family and certainly one of Disney's more underrated titles. It just could've done with being a bit longer.

VHS : Dirty Dancing (1987)
Dirty Dancing is a movie that is hyped up to the limit. It is recognised as one of the best chick-flicks and has somehow entered the books as a classic that you simply have to see. With all this in mind I only got around to watching this movie a year ago and have since watched this three times, each time hoping to discover what it is that seems to make this movie special and unique but I am sorry to say that I fail to see what's so great about this movie.

The story is simple. Baby (Jennifer Grey) is on holidays with her parents. She meets local dance teacher Johnny (Patrick Swayze), she learns the passions of dance while also learning a few things about love and life at the same time.

Undoubtedly the best thing about this movie is the music, ... Read More:

jon pertwee was great as the doctor. and this is a good story to watch to see just how good he is.

well, the 7 episode stories might be overlong for some, but this story keeps pace and interest through every episode.

the plot is very complex, with all the aliens being substituted for humans and stuff. when i first saw this story i was a bit confused by what was going on, but now im older and this story is brilliant. one of the best jon pertwee stories and one of the best full stop.

oh and i like it that caroline john gets to do some decent stuff for a change. and she sure is a great runner!!

actually not too many special effects on this story, but this aint a bad thing at all. in fact, it makes it slightly more believable. gives the story the ... Read More:

These are three of the best War film ever.
The Dambusters. I realy bought this set for this film, the true story of Barns Wallace and the famous raid on German Dams in WW2.
The Cruel Sea. The story of the Men who crewed A destroyer in early WW2.
The Colditz Story. Tales from the famous WW2 prison camp.

These are great films. even in black and white.

VHS : The Turn Of The Screw [1999]
When a young woman (played by Jodhi May) begins her job as governess, everything seems to be perfect. However, there are secrets in her new house, and when she begins to see the ghosts of recently deceased servants, it becomes clear that there is evil afoot. However, no one else can see the ghosts, and her actions begin to seem more and more deranged. How can she protect her two charges, and what must she do? [Color, released in 1999, with a running time of 1:40 (2 hours with the Masterpiece Theatre introduction and so forth).]

Overall, I found this to be a disturbing and rather chilling movie. The original Henry James' story is considered a classic ghost story, but in this movie, things are much less clear. Is the governess a sensitive young woman, who is struggling to overcome the machinations of a pair ... Read More:

My little sister likes it, but I don't. I don't really like cartoon movies, I would suggest going for Flubber (which is excellent) or RV (which is FFFFFFFAAAAAAAAANNNNNTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAASSSSSSTTTTTTTIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCC) both by Robin Williams. This one is boring.
