The DS Lite is fantastic. Slim, with bright screens and a good balance between power and battery life. The speakers aren't as good as the older DS, but it doesn't really matter. But, you could make it a pocket Cray supercomputer for I care; it has one major fault. The hinge will not break unless you open and close the console very frequently; I used to play on mine three times a day and listen to MP3s which meant the hinge would cycle 5-6 times a day. A year later, the right hinge came off. And oh, boy, what have we here? The rachet that locks the screen open is only in the right hinge. So all the stress is on the right hinge. The pink Nintendo DS.. I got a Nintendo DS in december 07,by April 2008 i had sold it on. I really, really wanted one and when i got it was completly addicted to it,perfect for when your partners watching the football! The Games appealed to me and i loved that i could take it anywhere and loved how it looked..but then i started to get bored because the games were too short and easy and i ended up not playing on it because i had completed all the games. I think i found i was too old for it at 20 and it was better for younger children as the games were too easy and childish. I would recommend it for children 100% as its great fun and educational. Great delivery from Amazon at a great price. Also got the free Brain Training game & so now I can't get the DS off the missus!! She is even playing it as I am typing this. Great unit for games on the go.

Ahhh... Nintendo. Nobody can beat Nintendo when it comes to the handheld gaming market. Nokia had a go with the N-Gage. I've only ever seen one N-Gage. And Sony had a slightly more respectable go with the PSP, which, while fun, broke fairly easily, became scratched and generally fell out of favour among those who wanted a more pick-up-and-play gaming experience. The DS Lite improves on Nintendo's original release by making the console thinner, lighter and considerably better to look at. It's clear the Japanese gaming gurus took onboard all of the initial criticisms (of which there were not many) and built something that defies all expectations of handheld gaming. What else is there to say? It works. It does its job (very well), there are thousands of codes for (probably) every single DS game imaginable. It's easy to use, and effective. The reason I gave it a 4 in the fun rating is because it's NOT fun typing in codes that can have potentially 100 charcters into your DS, but luckily you can copy and paste it into the software that came with it, which saves a lot of tedious tapping with the stylus. The only problem I had is when I plugged it into my PC, sometimes the software didn't recognise it, but this could be because I was using Vista, and it's designed for XP. So Vista users, beware. It works, but it takes some fiddling. Great product overall, and came in very useful.

We owned an original Nintendo DS for two years - we bought it right when it released in December 2004. When I first saw the DS Lite at E3 in 2006, I was thrilled. The game great handheld unit design - but lighter! Brighter! Tuned! It really showed that Nintendo had been paying attention to customer feedback during those two years, and had tweaked its unit to be even better than before. First, the weight. We always loved the design of the DS, with its folding top. As PSP owners, I can't tell you how many time that poor PSP screen gets dinged or scratched. We had to buy extra carrying cases for our PSP and get screen protectors. I personally think this is a good product made for the ds and ds lite. Although it sometimes freezes the game, action replay can be used straight out of the box without any difficulties. The process of installation is easy and quite quick. It is fully updatable via usb meaning you don't have to buy newer versions when released.
