I was so disappointed after having read the other reviews.

There is a real lack of atmosphere in this game. In the reviews it was compared to Halo! There IS NO such comparison to be made. The gameplay is very limited, the pace exceptionally slow, the graphics, and sound are lacking for an XBOX title and look more like early PC 3D titles (think Voodoo 2) certainly not up to usual glossy standards. In fact, glossy is a word that in no way applies to this game.

Missions are dull (imagine GoldenEye missions but without any real storyline/continuation or character/s)... again no atmosphere. If you do buy the game, you will feel nothing.

Additionally the controls take a lot of patience, promise a lot of interaction ... Read More:

Quite graphic in places. Bullets will send arms and heads flying in all directions as you blaze away with M16 and grande launchers.

Whilst not fast paced stuff, the action scenes and story are good.

I'm a Tomb Raider fan, but this game to me wasn't even worth finishing. I didn't enjoy playing this to the point where I didn't even finish. I played around 2 thirds of the way though then gave up.

The first 3 TR games are outstanding, but the next 2 didn't cut it, in my opinion.

Ok, so it's got a lot of good reviews here, but this is just my humble opinion. I don't think I'd ever be tempted to play it again, but I did purchase the PC version as you receive the Level Editor to create your own levels.

Apart from that, this to me wasn't classic Tomb Raider.

86.Thief: Deadly Shadows (Xbox) from: Eidos

In Thief:deadly shadows you play a thief called garret who has a mechanical eye and a voice like snake plissken. It is your task to unravel a conspiracy in a nameless city whilst stealing everything you can see to buy more thief tools. most of the time you're in a medieval city but you wander off onto ships full of zombies, the odd manor and underground ruins.

I always rate a game on how immersive it is when I stop playing and in the case of thief:deadly shadows I started to wear hoods, crouched in the shadows and looked for elemental arrows in my garden. This makes up for the certain flaws the game has because I got stuck on the scenery several times whilst playing and sometimes you would see a NPC walk through a bit of a wall. The mother of all flaws ... Read More:

My son can't keep away from it!

Rhona Mitra is not as wonderfully airbrushed in her beauty as Angelina Jolie, but she'd still kick her derriere.
That's how I feel about this, Lara's first incarnation.
Compared to the fluidity and polish of Tomb Raider: Anniversary (the remake of this, eleven years on), Tomb Raider looks chunky and dated.
Don't let that fool you, this game and this alone is the reason the PlayStation brand leads the world today.
Once played, never forgotten.
Most of you reading this review will already have played it and are merely curious as to other people's views, so let me try a little experiment.
Think: Lara being chased by wolves. I bet you can hear the music now, can't you?
If by some bizarre quirk of fate you haven't played this, then ... Read More:

I think this game was much better than i expected it to be. I thought that it would be another boring bad graphics game... but no, it has really good graphics and its really intresting. I would normaly get bored of doing the same battles over and over but it has lots of other like sandbox things you can do if you cant do a mission and want a change. I gave this game fun rating of 5. But it says that you can play online against other players but it wont connect to the web.

Overall a very good game. Would give it 4.5 but cant!

At the time of writing this I have probably finished it(on easy at least)eight or more times and am still finding new things, most people know by now what game it is so here's just a few points of interest:
Compared to the PC version, some of the areas have been 'cordoned off'obviously to allow for less loading etc,the PS2 has auto aim and the scope(s)don't shake about half as much as the PC version even when they've been upgraded,I've seen my brother play the PC version and I don't think there are any major bits taken out of it,all I can remember is that a gunfight outside the hospital is missing and the descent to rescue Ford Shick has been 'edited'
There are moments of slowdown when it gets busy but they're infrequent at best and as for the stealth,I've not had a problem, granted ... Read More:
