Video Games : Max Payne
Set in the dark and menacing back alleys of New York during the century's worst blizzard, this is a terrific game that received plaudits on its release. I keep going back and playing it, and even now it doesn't date. What makes Max Payne especially good is the mix of action, a twisting clever plotline told with storyboards and voiceovers, and dream sequences that draw you into the character's despair and inner struggles.

Max Payne is like an interactive action-packed Hollywood movie. Ok, the graphics aren't up to par with the latest computer technologies, but they are of a high standard and exceptional for its time. The story is compelling, if sometimes a little difficult to follow, and once you start playing it, you don't want ... Read More:

This game is just superb. i could finish the review right there and hope that people would just go out and experience all the small things that make the game wonderful for themselves. when i first bought this game i knew i was in for a treat as rockstars GTA series hardly ever puts a foot wrong. the fact you can customise your character by buying different clothes, trying out different haircuts, eating and working out just shows a very small bit of the variety of this game.

There are many a missions for you to have a go at and the difficulty is just about right. i finished the game a little while ago and can still go back and play it for hours. one of the best improvements since vice city is the much bigger variety of bikes, cars, planes ... Read More:

I don't give a flying circus whether anyone thinks that this is a bad game for whatever reason they do, whether it is because they say it is just a poor version of Metal Gear Solid or Splinter Cell etc. (which is totally unfair as it not trying to be those games in any way and the only thing that is similar is that this is a stealth game) or just too sick and trying to be as violent as possible just to create controversy or being too boring, whatever their reason, if they don't like the horror genre then they should simply avoid it as they can't possibly appreciate what makes this game so brilliant.

Although this is a violent game, the violence is a bonus, this does not make the game scary, it is the atmosphere, the synth soundtrack, the dark ... Read More:

I must confess to never watching the film - the main reason I bought this game was that I have been waiting for a good free roaming beat 'em up since the Streets of Rage games on the Mega Drive. The genre has never successfully made the transition into 3D before The Warriors.

Intitially, I was slightly underwhelmed by this game. The opening training mission was great for introducing the controls (which are very good) and characters but the second proper mission is far too long, drawn out and boring. After that's done the game really picks up and is so hard to put down.

The sheer variety of gameplay and objectives on offer is impressive - it's not just mindless fighting from start to finish. You may have to cause as much destruction in ... Read More:

GTA is not just a video game, it is a phenomenon. No other game as had so much unniversal praise, media attention and just simple become so massive. But upon playing the game you can see why. The first of the new generation GTA games in 3D on the PS2, the first thing that strikes you is just how big the game is. The world is massive, and filled with all kinds of madness.

Steal a car, drive around, speed crash, kill people for money, get into fights with gangs - all these are staples of GTA 3. Ignore whatever anyone tells you about the game setting a bad example for kids, what a load of rubbish! This is a game, pure and simple, it the amount of innocent fun you can have on here is nothing to do with the troubles in the real ... Read More:

This is a great game. It has great cars, amzing gameplay, great customization, great graphics and it poses a real challenge.

So the cars, there are so many and all costomizable in almost every way you could think of. They are sorted into catagories, SUVs/Trucks, Exotics, Muscle Cars etc. and are then sorted into further catagories of performence, Class D, Class E etc. They all have different performence levels and these can be upgraded in the garage, you can change the engine core, the brakes etc. and can even inject your ride with nitrous to give it a boost of insane speed. The only dissapointment in this catergory is that you cant costomize the inside of your car, bummer.

The gameplay is immense. The A.I are acctually a challenge but they are not the sort of drive ... Read More:

Video Games : Grand Theft Auto Collectors' Edition - GTA, GTA II, GTA London
I went back to playing the original GTA and GTA London after completing Vice City just for a laugh to remind myself of what the originals were like. Once you get used to the ‘old Skool’ blocky graphics again you soon realise just how good these games actually were and begin to appreciate that without these there probably would not have been the groundbreaking GTA III, Vice City or forthcoming San Andreas. The game play is as totally addictive as the later titles and you could argue that the ‘top down’ birdseye view of the car chases is actually just as good as the later 3D games. It’s actually funny to think that this game caused an outcry when released due to it being too violent and yet now Vice City is winning awards from ‘respectable’ organisations ... Read More:
