Since Tony Hawk's Underground 2, the series has just never been the same. Although I think Proving Ground is a slight improvement on Project 8 and American Wasteland, it is still miles behind the THUG series. It has to be said that the graphics on this are pretty good, and the gameplay isn't bad at all, but the story and new tricks is what's letting this down. The "Nail a Trick and Grab" in my opinion is pretty hoepless and skating just doesn't seem to be fun anymore. The map is certainly big enough and maybe a little too big. Challenges you come accross throughout the game are definetely what I would call HARD, and there are very few cutscenes, which I find brings a story together in a game, especially a Tony Hawk's one. I have always been surprised by the speed with which certain gamers heap criticism on games. It's a cut-throat business, but sometimes when I read reviews, I get the impression that 9 out of 10 games must be absolute rubbish. Obviously this is not the case...... Moving onto the game itself. I thought the graphics for a game of this nature were quite good. The planes are depicted in detail and the colourations and designs are impressive. I will admit that ground troops and vehicles sometimes lack detail, but this is not really that important when playing the game. I havnt seen the film so i cant tell if it follows the storey closly or just goes all over the place but i can tell you the game is very easy to play and fun to get into. The controlls are simple to the point that a child will master them before the end of the 1st lvl. The graphics are fantastic for a game based on a cartoon and the items you eed to collect are simple to see and pick up the bad guys are very well thought up but seem to be a little to easy to defeat. The sound is great too as Jack Black has voiced this perfectly. Children will love this and adults too but us adults will tire very quickly of the same thing in diffrent locations. Apart from that its great

apon recieving this item I thought it was great, well worth the money. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because i ordered this item on 18/2/08 and recieved it on 11/4/08 almost a two month wait for something as simple as a thumb pad,also it uses 2 triple A batteries and doesnt make use of the PS3's bluetooth capabilities (it doesnt use bluetooth it uses a wireless usb). dont let this review put you off buying this item it is fantastic and works on the PS3 and any PC's and it is plug and play.

Like the others before me, i too purchased this from the psn store. Its a brilliant game...great graphics and very atmospheric and dark. I would advise people to purchase the game on disc as the downloads themselves,even though they are good value for what you pay, do take up alot of your memory (around 9gb in total for the 12 episodic levels ) and can take up alot of your time to download. If you liked Silent Hill or the Resident Evil games then you will like this, plenty of characters to play though as the game swaps between them allowing you to view the storyline through different perspectives. One of the better levels is when you play as little Bella,sneeking your way around a hospital....if you thought silent hills hospitals were bad....you aint seen nothing yet!!
