I got this item today morning and 4 hours later I just printed the return labels.
All the external hard drives did not work on it, all says unknown device or storage diveci cannot start. The printer is just printing like split 1 page to 5 and printing on 5 page. And I could not find any support for it! So its rubbish! I plugged in my old Trust 4 ports USB 2.0 HUB and ready to buy a new hub for the rest of the stuff. BUT SURELY NOT D-LINK!!! :(

I bought this in Feb (4 months ago) as I needed a powered hub for my USB drive. Worked out of the box without any problems but now the power LED appears to start flashing/flickering at random times. The device still appears to work as normal but I am nervous especially as I do my image backups using it. I may well return it.

I have to agree with S. Innes who like me has Windows XP with no ethernet port. This little gizzmo was not only cheap to buy but it was so easy and quick to install. I have now been able to install a wireless router to my computer. I would highly reccomend this product to anyone who wants wireless broadband but has no ethernet port on their PC.

You must be in doubt about the product considering most people haven't heard of either the seller or Strand devices - so was I. But one month on, with almost a daily use of the hub it seems perfectly alright with decent speed. The product is pretty much as described on the box. But for the super heavy box (I wondered if they put stones inside, but it turned out it was just the adapter. The hub itself is super light), I have no complaints - so far!

Top marks to ABC products - I received it a day before the promised despatch date. Not much to say about the cable other than it serves its purpose. I hooked it up, Vista saw and installed it and my old HP LaserJet 4L gets a new lease of life.

Well, yes, it gives you four USBs from one. But like other reviewers I found the slow transfer speeds with camera, wireless stick and mp3 player annoying - that little message that comes up saying 'this attachment could work much faster...' can really get you down.

I guess the key is to use it for things where speed is not crucial and leave the original USB ports for things that need speed.

But you can buy better.

i have had this card reader for some 8 months now and I never fail to appreciate the speed and ease with which it does the job - I have used it on both Windows XP and MAC OS Tiger - I have not bothered to put the additional drivers on my systems and have not felt any need to explore why this might be a good idea. It does what I want and brilliantly. I am about to change to an Olympus camera with XP -M Picture Card and I trust it will do just as good a job for me with that . . . You can't go wrong.

8.VIA VT6421A 3 PORT SATA SERIAL ATA + 1 ATA PCI CONTROLLER CARD from: Pluscom
Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Computer : VIA VT6421A 3 PORT SATA SERIAL ATA + 1 ATA PCI CONTROLLER CARD
This is just a fine disk controller for anyone wanting to do a really basic install of a SATA disk into an old PC.

I wanted a bigger disk, but didn't want to be stuck with a PATA one to fit my old PC, so I got a SATA one and bought this controller card. After an hour diagnosing that one of my PCI slots was bust, this card worked fine.

The only grumble was that the quickstart guide they ship only gets you as far as getting the card installed, it doesn't cover actually using it to partition and format a new disk! Instructions are on their website though...

I can't comment on the RAID support, as that isn't what I wanted it for.

Easy peasy DV video capture from my Sony Handycam to the PC. Delivery was swift, card was true 'plug n play' and I was editing videos in a matter of minutes. The Ulead software seems good although I've not done much with it yet. Good value all round for £15 (inc p & p).

I bought this device to connect my Garmin Venture GPS to my new laptop that has no serial port. It arrived very promptly and was easy to connect with the cable being much longer than shown in the picture. On using the instal new USB device, at first it did not work until I discovered that it had been installed on COM4 (!). (Go to control panel, system, hardware tab, device manager). I then corrected the baud rate and it now works well. I could not expect more for the price. I am very satisfied with my purchase although some instructions on the COM4 problem might have been helpful.
