perhaps theese are good for data back-up? but out of 100 of theese discs i have tried 15 and my burning software does not like them .15 coasters and 85 useless discs. windows media player (no go), nero burning rom (no go), clone cd (no go), real player (no go), burn xp (no go). i am now going back to my previous brand ( imation ) ,a lot better and will not be buying infinity again.

I ordered this drive (CBA Digital) via the Amazon website. I was amazed how quickly it came. I have a desktop computer with two drives installed. One is a small 40Gb internal drive dedicated solely to my own data, and I wanted the portable external drive purely as a backup-drive in case anything happened to my computer. When it arrived, I plugged one of the USB plugs into the computer's USB socket (the supplied cable is a split one with 2 USB plugs), and XP recognised it straight away. I did a drag-and-drop of all my files in minutes. Great! Up to now I have had my documents backed-up on serveral memory sticks. This small drive is even faster! It works exactly like a flash drive and performs excellently. A superb little instrument. Recommended.

I bought one of these intending to install a custom firmware that would allow me to use it as a music server on the LAN and over the web. I got it up and running on my network with the standard firmware in no time, but when I switched it off in order to attach a disk drive, it failed to restart - all I got was the power light, none of the system LEDs would come on, and the thing didn't boot. Tried resetting, nothing worked. I suspect it was a heat-related failure, even though it'd only run for about a half hour - I noticed when switching it off that the plastic casing was hot to the touch. There's little ventilation on the unit body. My advice - avoid.

I think the other review was a bit harsh or maybe he was just unlucky ( or I was lucky) but I found these cd cases OK. They arent the best but for the price they do OK. Had only 1 that was smashed other 99 arrived undamaged. The seller might like to package them better but overall I was satisfied to the extent I have just ordered another 100!
