Very impressive drive - I've had a couple of failed WDs so was looking for an alternative for an external caddy backup solution. Very quiet in operation and good transfer speed through an external caddy connected by eSATA about 2-3 times the speed of my old IDE drive. Highly recommended.

So far so good. I just installed the drive painlessly via eSata, using the £3 cable supplied by Amazon (it does come with firewire, and usb cables), so it would be usable without. It does need to be firmly pushed in, but that is something you should expect to do with a drive cable. As for the performance, without any speed enhancements enabled for this drive, on eSata, I got a performance that was above those of the drives installed internally, using real world type testing. Included software: This comes as a bunch of installable items on the drive itself, rather than as a cd or dvd. I recently bought a spindle of 50 of these DVDs and have used about half of them and not one has failed so far. Unless all the dodgy ones are clumped together at the bottom of the spindle they would seem to be as good as it gets at a very good price. I have used Verbatim CDs and DVDs for quite some time and have not had any problems with them. Maybe the reviewer with the high failure rate should look at his hardware as another reviewer suggested.

This hard disk drive is not much bigger than a mobile phone - 12.6cm x 7.9cm x 1.5cm - and holds a whopping 250Gb. This makes is the perfect back-up drive that you can take with you. I carry mine in my laptop bag, so that should my laptop hard disk fail I have all my data with me and can still work. Assuming I can borrow a PC or laptop that is. At home it can sit in a drawer and, if you want to pop round a friends house and share some tunes, it will sit in your pocket without causing an embarrassing bulge. I have been using Western Digital for years and have never had any technical problems - I simply upgrade for capacity. The one negative is the bundled sync software. It's a dog and is best avoided. such a great price and quality is excellent .. these dvd+rws used to be so expensive .. and this pack you can get less than £10.00 is just great .. we are always using our camcorder .. plus you can play them on your pc .. great dvd+rws .. make sure they are compatiple with your camcorder though and your dvd player ..

This is a great memory stick. When I opened mine I was surprised how small it was and yet it felt quite solid. It's sheathed in clear plastic as a protective cover which can be slid off to reveal the device's very tiny size - is there really 8gb in there?!?!?! Fanatastic! I thought at first glance 'Oh, it would have been nice to have had some kind of LED activity indicator' and went ahead and plugged it into my machine. Lo and behold the keyring loop area of the device lit-up! Nice. The unit flashes red to indicate activity and gently brightens and dims to indicate no data being transfered. As a computer illiterate I was hesitant to try to install this NAS drive as I had little clue what I was doing. It was however extremely easy, never a problem from beginning to end. In use it acts transparently as an extra hard drive accessible from every computer in the house. Wireless data transfer is certainly slower than a wired connection but that has never caused any problem, it has just slowed the mass data transfer from the wireless computers on my home net. Most importantly it now holds my digital music for streaming to my Sonos music system (heartily recomended). This hard drive has a lot going for it: it's small, slim and easy to carry, it looks great, it's extremely well designed (rubberised coating, built in retractable USB connector etc.), and it'll still work if you drop it... well that's what they claim and although you're not likely to want to test this feature out there's nothing in these reviews that suggests otherwise - certainly, having dropped a previous Freecom 80 gigabyte portable drive onto concrete and (after sticking the casing back together) been amazed that it still worked, I can believe it. All-in-all the best back-up drive I've owned to date.

These are not actually the 2.4x DVDs. If you order BC UK will send you 8x DVDs. Which is fine if they work in your DVD drive and a pain in the neck if they don't. Now I'm trying to wrangle a replacement from the company.
