I was able to set this printer up and within 1hr had it working across my wireless network with 3 computers. During install the software did apear to hang a couple of times but nothin that a reboot did not sort out. I am using a d-link dir-655 router with WPA encryption which is an excellent router. I bought this printer without reading online reviews, just a good one in a magazine. Glad I did not read reviews here now as I see some people had horrible problems. Fortunately I am very happy with how this has turned out.

We are on our second printer, the first left severe smudges along the right hand margin. Even though it was brand new, HP would only support it back at base with a 14 day turn around. We opted for a return and replacement. The new one is just as bad, this one we did return to HP for servicing. We have to continually clean the transfer unit to remove residue from the cartridges and still have a large quantity of copies coming out with marks along the margin. This is particularly worse if you have something that needs printing up to the edges,you get a shadow print of each line. My advice - look around for another machine. It's a shame because I am usually an HP fan.

The photo quality prints are indeed stunning. (If the printer software is set to produce photo quality.) I have an issue with some of the advertising material for this product: it does not make it clear that the term 'photo paper tray' does not refer to the type of paper usually used for printing near professional results, but to the size. After reading the literature, but before buying, I was of the impression that there were two full size paper trays - one for plain paper and another for photo type paper: that is not the case - the photo paper tray holds, typically, up to 20 sheets of 4 inch by 6 inch 'photo' quality paper. Has a mind of its own! The damn thing keeps telling me there is a paper jam when i know for a fact there is not,the cartridges are expensive and dont last long. Forget about nice quality photo prints,they are ruined by the mechanism that drives the paper through,it leaves a nice line across your pictures.

My old printer was connected with a USB to my desktop. I couldn't print from the latptop and for some reason I couldn't even print from anything other than the Administrator profile in XP. Getting this printer was a great move! It now prints fine from any profile on the desktop. And I can print wirelessly from anywhere in the house. As well as these obvious advantages there a few other things that really suit me about this printer: - paper is easy to put in, was a nightmare on my old Epson - prints two sided, fantastic! - actually looks quite nice, has throbbing green lights etc., and smaller than my old printer - prints quickly and print quality been good so far - inks aren't too dear at about £30 for a high capacity B&W/colour ...
