Like others, mine have failed. I have had two of these and both have failed after a few months. I now use another brand. There are obviously reliability issues with these - you might be lucky or you might not. Avoid.

Apparently saw my son's bluetooth phone, but couldn't connect to it (tried two different WinXP computers). Abandoned and bought the Belkin one, cost more but worked first time.

I don't normally write reviews... but after the pain I felt in getting this thing to work I felt compelled. Service was ok, in that the item arrived a week or so after order went in. No doubt I didn't read the description properly but the modem came with no power adaptor, no manual, CD or cat 5 cable. So, I set about purchasing/downloading these separately. When I had everything I needed (took a while - you try searching for a power adaptor for this thing) I couldn't connect wirelessly so had to use cat 5 cable. A long story short is that about 3 hours on the Belkin support line later I was finally in business. They were very good and very patient although still frustrating having to repeat everything you say twice as the call centre is in India, or ... Read More:

Having read all the reviews on this product, and after trying several more expensive alternatives on my Vista driven PC, I thought I'd have nothing to lose by giving this one a try, and I'm delighted! A few reviewers here said that the software provided is a bit naff, and I'm inclined to agree, which is why I've only given four stars, but the card itself is a five star bit of kit! I didn't go down the route of installing the drivers first as the installation disc suggests, I simply installed the card in the PC and let 'Vista' find the correct drivers and away it went. So, although it doesn't say so on the box or indeed the disc marked 'installation' it seems this card works just fine on Vista.
The range of the wireless also seems pretty good, as ... Read More:

I have used this adaptor both on computers running XP and now VISTA.
I have had not 1 problem with using on either whatsoever.
Other reviewers warn you about using it on VISTA - well all i did was to plug it into my new DELL desktop and it was up and running in 3 minutes !!
I did'nt need to down load new drivers or anything. So where the other reviewers came across VISTA prolems i don't know.
Great bit of kit.

I completely recommend this card, but want to offer my story to give guidance to others.

I bought this card to replace my 54Mbps Cable & Wireless card, as I wanted faster connectivity.

When I first installed the card, using the installation CD it comes with, there were two options:-

1.) Use the Netgear Smartwizard. (recommended)
2.) Let Microsoft Windows configure the card.

I chose the option that was highlighted as being recommended, Netgear, but in doing this upon "successful" installation, I had no IP address, but somehow I was still accessing the internet, then it kept crashing and then eventually it didn't work. I rang my ISP but because the internet was working through my modem, they would not ... Read More:

Have been using this adapter on a desktop pc with windows XP and the standard extension cable for over a year with no problems. Installed the software on two desktops and it worked fine with both, talking to the netgear router it came bundled with. Since we upgraded to WPA encryption, I needed to purchase another for a second desktop machine, as the old card couldn't support higher encryption. After much deliberation, I opted again for this adapter. I've just plugged it straight in with the existing software from the previously purchased adapter and its working fine.

It sounds like the more recent problems people have had are because of drivers. I've not had that because I'm using the software I installed about 18 months ago, rather than the software ... Read More:
