Computer : Garmin Nuvi 660

I received my Garmin Nuvi 660 as a brilliant Birthday gift from my partner and my mum and was extremely estatically happy...until it conked out on me a month ago. Almost 14 months from the date of purchase it simply stopped working.

It's been fully charged, rebooted, all that jazz, and I even took it to numerous electronic stores to get it fixed but to no avail! I called their customer service centre and they were no good. Just charge it and turn it back on they say...as if I wouldn't have done that already. When I switch it on it just doesn't aquire satalite connection.

So thanks alot Garmin for ripping us off. It was my first ever sat nav and I vow never to buy from Garmin again. However, I'm not completely slating ... Read More:

Computer : Road Angel Plus

This product looks good, but there are a few drawbacks.

Firstly, you may find that it doesn't work all of the time. There you are, happily driving along, you know where you are, your car's Sat Nav has your correct position down to the millimetre, but the Road Angel can't get a signal! Another 3 points for your license it is then ...........

However, you can always drive at the right speed when it doesn't have a signal (not that you wouldn't normally anyway!), so this isn't the worst aspect of the Road Angel.

By far the worst aspect of the design is the cradle used to attach the Road Angel to your screen, which at the slightest hint of a bend will either cause the Road Angle to move position, or jump out and slide ... Read More:

Computer : TomTom Go 720 Traffic Edition

I had the TomTom Go 700, which is a fantastic piece of kit, so when my daughter moved to University I thought I would treat myself to a new TomTom 720 and give my old 700 to my daughter.

Having waited over a month for delivery I was sure that it would have the latest maps - however on my first journey the first two roundabouts were missing and the third was there but it treated it as a turn. Not a good start, but then again this is Norfolk and not so well populated.

The traffic thing is a bit bizarre. I can't say I really understand it. For example travelling from Norwich to London(along the A11/M11) it gave a warning then increased my journey time to 7 hours. So I ignored its route and went towards the A12, to which it insisted ... Read More:

I was having problems with Signal strength and reception with my ICN 520. This was due to the Ford Heated windscreen in my Car. The external antenna has transformed my reception getting nearly maximum strength and reception. Recommended if you are experiencing problems with Signal Strength.

Having lost my GPS60CSx in France earlier this year I decided on the Colorado as a replacement. I took this unit to Everest Base Camp and loaded it with the relevanty TOPO maps. I found that I needed several sets of batteries a day with each set lasting around three hours which meant that tracking was an expensive luxury. Also the unit would switch off for no reason. Whilst I like the large display it is dim unless you ramp up the backlight which drains the batteries. I was getting twenty hours plus out of my old 60CSx and I am condidering downgrading.

My advice is to wait and see if they improve the performance before buying.
