This is an economical printer, even allowing for the price of toner. However, I have had two now, the first replaced under three year warranty, that have developed paper sensor problems which causes the printer to show that it is out of paper when in fact it is full. This problem goes away sometimes if you pull out the paper tray and push it firmly back in but that can get to be a bore. My current model has now developed this fault but is responding to the above measure but, alas, the first model obstinately refused to correct itself or be corrected and so was replaced, after about a year's modest use. For owners of Canon printers. If you want good quality photographs and photographs that will remain good quality for many years to come, genuine Canon Ink Cartridges should be purchased. I have tried all the cheaper cartridges available over the years and have found there is no substitute for the genuine article. Cheap inks cartridges are ok for rough work but to use cheap cartridges for quality photographic prints is false economy. Don't be tempted by cheap cartridges if you want long lasting colour prints. P.S. I am a genuine customer and have no connection with Canon or any other manufacturer. This is purely my advice based on many years of printing photographs on Canon printers of various types.

It does simply what you want from this! Good price 10 x 15 photos. I've had one for over a year and have bought another 2 of these as presents. I've tried inferior ink cartridges which are not worth it, you really do need to buy the original HP cartridges to get the best colours and longer ink-life. You can also buy an inexpensive (I paid less than £5) bluetooth adapter so that you can send photos to this from a bluetooth camera phone, no need to purchase the expensive HP option.

Thought it was just bad luck when the S20 (a neat little printer, just what my dad needed for light duties) put up a message after 4 days claiming the black cartridge was not genuine, and refused to print another thing. Returned to shop, replaced, exactly the same problem with the second. Thought I'd hit a bad batch, went to another store, same problem again. Looks like a major hiccup in quality control here - I reckon the product should be withdrawn.

I have had the printer for nearly a year. Still working without a problem. Prints well on thicker card. I think I have gone up to 240 gsm. It flags low ink levels early but you can monitor the level by looking at the cartridge. If there is still ink in the sponge keep on printing.
