Well, where to begin? ...Hmm, at the beginning I suppose. This CPU (E6600) is simply better than any other AMD CPU on the market...and yes, it is better than AMD's socket F tomfoolery before you raise your hand to interupt me. Marry this beast with an 8800GTX (or GTS version) and some low latency DDR2-800 (2GB for starters), and you have a veritable beast on your sweaty paws. I remember when I first knocked together my E6600 system and booted the thing up..."Why is the CPU fan rotating??...must...find...3...pin...fan...header...connector!" - I thought that, in my haste to build the PC, that I'd forgotten to connect it. This arrived yesterday via the mail and I was immediately impressed by the slick black design. It is 'piano-key' gloss cover (which is prone to fingerprints hence the reason for the supplied cleaning cloth!). The inside is black, with some keys and the start button highlighted in blue. This is simple yet effective. I haven't used the touchpad as yet as I have a mouse plugged into the USB. Touchpad has two (left / right) command keys. Laptop came supplied with Windows Vista (which is taking some getting used to). I have upgraded my Dell 521 CPU, AMD 5000+ to this AMD 6400+ and my vista score went from 5.2 to 5.5. Using internet, opening files and media playback didn't show the full out of it but game playing significantly improved somewhat. I would imagine that if you use this CPU with Windows XP rather than Vista, it would be much better. I play games with an ATI HD graphic and it works fine. The word 'fine' exactly fits in. I don't have any complaints. But I would recommend to buy black edition rather, not because you want to overclock it(no point in overclocking anyway), but because the blackedition is designed to deal with hot temperatures. But either you chose, you need to have a good heat sink. It's quite hot anyway so have a look at heatsinks. ... Read More:
