Thankfully I chose to ignore the other reviewer of this product as they are clearly reviewing the software that comes with the scanner and not the hardware itself. I have installed Silverfast on my Windows XP machines without any issues. If you want to use Windows Vista then as far as I know, it works, but Vista is a possibly the worst operating system I've ever had the misfortune to use and if there are issues, they're probably Vista issues, not Plustek's. You've been warned! Anyway, back to the scanner. I scanned a few films using the Silverfast software with great results. However, it's not exactly intuitive and it can sometimes be a struggle to get consistent results as there is far too much twiddling to be done. I read the review ... Read More:

I bought a Brother refurbished 7010 18 months ago. The Brother website is good and it is a nice package and works well when it works. It suffers from 'back door open' intermittent fault messages that completely disable any use of the unit. This fault is the most reported fault according to the Brother website and any search on the internet finds a number of people looking for fixes.
