I've had this printer for over 6 months for business use. It's been very reliable and copes with printing up to 80 sheets a day on a regular basis. It does seem to get through ink rather quickly hence 4 stars rather than 5. Other than that I'm happy with the quality, ease of use and reliability and think it's a good product for the price.

I bought one of these after much thought last october and have found it a real pain. the software never worked reliably so for a long time I simply used other standard software to work it. This worked (mostly) but if i tried the software which came with it - which has lots of interesting add-ons it normally gave me false messages about the computer being unable to contact the scanner. Many calls to HP no help. The pages of instructions they give about how to make the software work are a fair indication that lots of other people have problems too. Frankly I want to scan not to spend days working out why I can't scan. Finally after 10 months the feeder and the base gave out. Credit to HP they replaced them but this only after hours of calls ... I bought my SJ 5590 as a replacement for an older HP scanner which I found very easy to use. In contrast the SJ5590 is a nightmare. The scanner has been designed around the US letter size document, not A4, as a result if you leave an A4 document on the flatbed and then use the ADF, the scanning head cannot see the documents, if scan a small document without selecting the scan area you will get an image of the slot of the scanning window of the ADF on your image. The ADF is supposed to be capable of scanning both sides of a sheet but it distorts the top of the second side and I have given up using it. It also tries to run pages back through the scanner when set to single sided scanning which leads to jamming. Read More:
