Recently on a holiday to France, I was forced to spend some time indoors (due to appalling weather). There was no radio/TV in the gite we were staying in, so I popped out to the local Dixons and bought these speakers for 14. Bought them on the premise that I would leave them in the gite after I used them. But I ended up taking them home cause they are so good value for money. The sound is not what you'd call bombastic, but for PC or MP3 speakers where you're not looking for amazing bass, these speakers are incredible. Recommended for MP3 speakers to stick in a suitcase while abroad. Not recommended if you really like your sounds, good but not that good.

I actually bought this to use with my Sony NWZ-A818. It took a little filing of the plastic to make it fit but this was expected as it is for an iPod. Quite a big sound for the size but not particularly loud. It seems there is built in compressor that doesn't allow it to distort like many other tiny speaker systems. Does feel very solid though and the stand is a nice addition. Great little desktop addition but not nearly enough volume to play tunes at a party. I would compare the volume to a modern phone playing through it's loudspeaker, but has much better sound quality than a phone.

I wanted speakers which would work with any of the family mp3 players, so that ruled out all speakers dedicated to one make. I also didn't want anything too expensive as anticipated use wasn't going to be heavy. Amazon came up trumps with choices but the deal-breaker for the Exspect was the reviews by existing users and the price of under a tenner. The unit is robust and feels nice in the hand. There is adequate space to hold an i-river H10, but not a 40Gb Creative. Sound quality is on the tinny side, having only one speaker. These speakers look fantastic with my Apple Macbook. The sound they produce is fantastic too. Can't fault them in that department. They are loud enough for me when watching dvd's. However if you want to be deafened whilst watching a dvd then I suggest you look at other speakers. The only complaint I have is the fact you can't just plug them into your computer and they will work. You have to plug them into a plug socket aswell as your computer for them to work. Also the wires are not particularly long between the speakers so you can't exactly put one on one side of your room and the other on the other side because they won't reach!
