I brought cable based on the earlier reviews and am delighted with its use. The cable is long enough to reach from the printer to my laptop, I had no issues, WinXp recognised an external USB device, I did not need any drivers, you have to configure and tell WinXP to use a USB port for the printer and what printer it is and you're done in a matter of minutes. I have had no errors since and I print large documents as a home worker and since its USB I can disconnect and plug into my Wifes PC. The cable supports all operating systems, is bidirectional, has USB on one end and centronics-36 parallel port connectort on the other and requires no external power.

Bought this to connect my basic Sony MiniDV Camcorder to my laptop, which didn't come with it's own firewire port. Plugged it in, computer recognises it and you're up and running on Windows Moviemaker within minutes. No messing product. Highly recommended!

The fast delivery is the only good thing I can say about this product and the company. The hub crashed if more than two things plugged into it, and even with just two it frequently dropped it's connection. I checked my pc and it was ok so the fault was with the goods. I emailed them stating the problem and asked what their policy was. Their policy it seems is to totally ignore any complaints and do nothing. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS BECAUSE IF ANYTHING IS WRONG WITH IT (AS SEEMS LIKELY) THEY HAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T CARE.

This USB hub, despite its fugly looks, does the job. As you would expect, it was automatically detected by Windows XP and so no driver was needed. The light display is ridiculous because it repeats the same pattern over and over again and does not reflect its connected devices' I/O. The light display pissed me off so badly that I destroyed the central flashing light. I now keep the device upside down. This is a decent device though remember that you are getting 7 USB ports for a very cheap price.

I needed a low-profile firewire card for my Dell Dimension C521 PC, which has no firewire port, in order to upload videos from my Canon camcorder to the PC. Only one slot on the PC would accommodate it, so I had to remove an old unused dial-up modem card from that slot. Do make sure to fully uninstall the any card that's already there - I didn't do so first time round, which caused problems, but now the StarTech card works fine. I would recommend the product, particularly in view of the fact that StarTech gave me prompt & personal e-mail support in sorting out the problems caused by failing to uninstall the old modem card beforehand.
