I don't know whether it is Vista or the Canon Pixma IP4200 printer but I had nothing but problems installing this - most certainly did not work straight out of the box as the instructions suggest! Finally beat it into submission though, but not using the useless software.

There was a lot of help in chatrooms, which saved me a lot of time. After installing the IP4200 drivers for Vista, I installed the Linksys software. I went with a static IP address. From the Control panel I went to the IP4200 properties and added a standard TCP/IP port, input the IP address, clicked on LPR and typed L2 in LPR queue.

Overall more hassle than I expected but neat little box that seems fine now.

It works, it is well built, good looking, has a cool remote control switch and all you have to do is plug in the wires, simple.

The wires coming out of the base unit end up in a mess but as they say in the instructions leave it out of sight behind your kit.

The spec says it needs certain operating systems presumably for auto config of USB devices. It works for me switching between a Winterm (Windows CE?) and XP Professional PC system.

It seems that there is a slight delay (a couple of seconds) after switching before the keyboard and mouse are recognised and the XP system beeps a couple of times apparently indicating that a USB device has been connected/disconnected. This slight delay is not a problem for me and ... Read More:

not only are the instructions next to useless. this does not work with multifuncion printers - i was told by belkin 3 hours after opening the packet.

"we did have a switch that used to work, but it had too many problems, so we discontinued it"

marvellous. worst product ever. dont waste your bandwith looking at it.
