...but what a lousy manual. You have to guess how to get the software download for Mac - the included disk is for PCs only. The preferences refinements are not explained, plus the manual itself is anyway too small to see the screen shots in detail. The camera picture is ok, but small, so I can't go overboard about that either. Ho hum.

I bought this as it looked a very good value webcam. But unfortunately it looks like I got what I paid for. As another reviewer has noted, installation was painful. I just dumped the CD in the bin, as it just couldn't be read by the computer, and grabbed the installation files from the Logitech website. However, this wasn't straightforward, as it wasn't clear which model I had, and had to download a couple of install packages before I got the right one. When I did get it working, I was very disappointed in the quality. Under optimal light conditions, the picture is pretty grainy, and quite choppy. I installed this webcam with the latest software (version 11.5) and found that it periodically crashed my PC. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software a couple of times since following instructions received from Logitech support but to no avail. They are now suggesting I install an older version of the software (v11.1). I am inclined to give it up as a bad job.

There are issues with the driver, it works to start with and then after a few days, the picture is black. After reinstalling, it works again but the same thing happens. Now it won't work at all after reinstalling. The Mic is good and continues to work even though the the camera dosn't, the sound quality is good. The software dosn't work and crashes. Overall not great.

Based upon the previous review I purchased my first web cam. I am not disapointed! Installation via the CD (I felt I would allow the CD to install the software initially) was simplicity, once I had switched of my Norton firewall as instructed. Set up was idiot proof and so simple. Quality of the cam is superb! I expected delay and jumpy images, but it is almost real time! Sharpness, colour and clarity including depth of field is no les than superb!. The built in Mic' works very well and is crystal clear in reproduction. Of course there are a multiplicity of settings for all of the above criteria should they be required. Bought this item thinking it was 7.1Megapixel camera from items description, but it isnt! It is: 'Upto 7.1 Mega pixels resolution upgrade function' but cant find the upgrade function anywhere with the software and item isnt even listed on pluscom website. Looks smart, good picture but software is a little buggy!
