I have been very pleasantly surpised by the quality of the output of the Flip Ultra. It is so small and light that I almost expected something akin to the video output on a mobile phone. First impressions were that it was very simple to use and that it looks great. It wasn't until I hooked it up to my 32" TV that I was really impresses - even on a fairly big screen the image quality is impressive, as is the sound. I would heartily recommend.

I bought this camera because I suspected my old camera of having a slow throughput of the digital tape giving jerky panning. I thought no tape would eliminate a lot of faults. It did to some degree. But my main gripe is the battery! I cant obtain a replacement sony NP-FH40 I have trawled the net and been back to the shop I purchased from. All I can get is a large battery that sticks out from the back of the camera and has a small lead that is inserted into the DVin socket. You no longer get battery information while the camera is inserted, so you dont know if it is nearly discharged. This is not good enough. If your thinking of buying...dont! Look first for a reserve battery you wont find the same as fitted to the camera when you purchased. ... Read More:

Was looking for a relatively inexpensive and easy to use product for use on holiday etc. So plumped for the Sony Handycam. It does what is syas - extremely easy to use and pick up, first class recoding quality (although can be noisy - shot a small clip on a nice spring day in Inverness with a slight breeze and watching playback on TV it sounds like it was blowing a gale!!). My only criticism would be with the software supplied and instruction manual. I am not illiterate when it comes to computers but 3 months down the line, I still cannot get the Handycam to link to my pc and I have no idea how on earth one goes about editing footage with the software provided.

I take it as read that this will produce high quality video. As an apple user I want it to work in iMovie 08 by using an SD card reader. I like working like this. I got the Apple store in Southampton and the John Lewis store to try to import some footage shot on a new SD9 using a card reader. It did not work. Much head scratching! There is a lot of talk about this issue on DV forums and Apple forums. Some say import problems to iMovie have been resolved. Until I know for sure that I can use an SD card reader with the SD9 I will not be buying. Apple users like me - be warned. After this experience I went back to both stores to check that their computers had the latest software updates which were supposed to resolve the iMovie import problem. ... Read More:

I got this product in the box new complete with AV cables,charger etc. This product is amazing and its for an exetremely low price!! I highly Recommend Sony they make amazing products including this one. When i discovered that it can do loads of good special effects I Was so Amazed. It is so lightweight you would not belive it!! I also Recommend these Sony accessories :- Tripod,LCD Cleaning kit,lenses,sports pack etc. So If You Need A Camera Recorder Get This One!!

The camera works excellently and very impressed with the recording quality. My only regret is there is no viewfinder. I find filming outdoors with the sun behind it is virtually impossible to see what you are shooting on the on the LCD screen. It is a very hit and miss operation and much of the captured footage is left to luck whether you get what you want.

This is a brillant camcorder that I was on the point of buying to cover a holiday in Peru. HOWEVER if you look on the Sony web site for the handbook, you will discover that use above 3000metres will destroy its hard drive!!! I have spoken to Sony UK Technical department about this and they not only confirmed the above but also said that switching to record on the memory stick will NOT get round it. As soon as you turn the camcorder on it will damage the hard drive if above 3000m. This was not mentioned in any sales literature or specifications, only the handbook -normally read after you've bought it!!

Took this great camera with me on several trips now to Egypt and Bonaire and although it is rated for use to a maximum depth of 10 meters is has been deeper with me without any problems. Battery life may vary but it is easy to use and has a clear display. Fits easily in the pocket of your BCD. Clip it to a D-ring because it will sink if you let it go. Overall good quality pics both above and under water. Love it and if I would lose it I would order another one before my next trip !

I love my Flip camcorder - it's so easy to use - just a couple of buttons and I'm shooting my own movie! The sound quality isn't as great as a standard camcorder but the images are really clear and the software is simple to use so loading to You Tube is very quick and straightforward. It's a great fun camcorder that I can just carry around in my handbag and have out and using in seconds - which is really great at parties.
